I was googling for solutions to my 3RLed console and I couldn't help but stop to read this report, it's too funny to look past. That's not a joke, this guys is serious.

Translation follows.

My name is Eduardo Araujo, I'm from Ceara [a Brazilian state]. I'm 32 years old, I live with my mother and brother. I'm graduated in laws, I'm unemployed at the moment, however I'm trying public jobs.

In 2006 I earned an Xbox 360 device "unblocked". I think I was the first person in Fortaleza [in Ceara, Brazil] to have this video game. F*ck man, otherworldly graphics, DVD quality and digital sound. Everyday when I woke up the first thing that I did was turn the console on and "hit" Halo, then I had lunch, took a siesta and went play other games. Later, [then he lists some lame and old Brazilian TV programs that run through the afternoon in open channels]. Then I stayed a little on the Internet and went to sleep to begin all the fun again in the next day. My routine was basically that except [when his football team was playing or the family was on travel].

In a beautiful day in last January of this year (2009), my mother woke me up about 10:30am. I had my milk with "Toddy", took a bath, changed clothes and went downtown to buy Resident Evil 5. My "mesada" [money that his parents give him every month] was near the end but man, that game was worth it! I went there, all set, went home to play it and surprise: Instead of lighting up the usual green light, three red ones showed up and the screen froze. Man, I disconnected from the sockets, turned it on again, same thing. Turned the device upside down, nothing. I even thought about unscrew and open, but I found better not to. I confess that at that moment I cried out of despair.

My mother went to my dorm room to find what was all about and I told her. She chilled me down and told me to deliver the device for repair in a technician near my condo. In the same guy who fixed our VHS. The owner of this store, Amilcar, is a trustful guy.

I left it there, to make an inspection and in the next day he called me, telling me to get it back. I was very happy, I thought it was all resolved. There Amilcar told that it was all OK inside, he replaced the fuse, checked the board and all those electronic and digital stuff. He told me that the problem was still there.

I was very upset. I told him: "if everything is alright, how come it doesn't work?". He didn't know the answer, told me that he was not specialist in that device.

I went back home very worried. Told the whole thing to my mother. She, as a very clever woman, told: "if nothing is wrong, it got to be a spiritual problem. Remember our TV CCE?" [this is a popular Brazilian brand known for its cheap but faulty products].

Mom had a CCE TV and when it broke, nobody was able to fix it, and one day she took it to Father Cleisson and he worked it out. An "umbanda" people [an African religion common in Brazil] saw the TV and put evil-eye on it, it became full of entities, and, according to Father Cleisson, it damaged the transistors. And that house appliances also suffered from the same spiritual troubles as people, because God was everywhere, but sadly the devil too.

I was never too attached too religion, mainly for lack of time. Even so I used to went to churches eventually, Father Cleisson was a family friend. I called him and he told me that I could take the Xbox to his house. Arriving there I took out the video game from its box, and Cleisson was horrified. He told that he felt a quite negative energy and that was from umbanda. After he finished, I said thanks and paid for the service, went home with high expectations.

With faith in Christ, turned everything on and put the game in. I don't have to say, do I? Worked perfectly. It's alright until today. This served to show me the importance of having Christ in life. Whenever I can I go to church at 6pm (the time of the 6pm soap opera, it's awful!).

Now I increased my frequency in churches, and I live my life in Christ. But I know that the blame for the spiritual load in the Xbox is not mine. In Ceara there's a lot of people with financial troubles and Xbox 360 costs R$1,700 [about US$780]. Not everyone can buy one, only few. As I'm one of the few in Ceara who have this video game, and my life style is envied by lots of people, I think someone went here and was very envy and passed that to the console. Of course this wouldn't never happened if I was attached to God as I'm today.

A hug for all.

E.A. 2009

This is the original report in Portuguese for those who understand. This site has something to do (I didn't really bother to find out) to something called Brazillian International Church (sic).

Place your faith in superstition and you will never get anything done. This story is an example of Christian propaganda that is remarkably successful because it relies on the built-in naivety and gullibility of the human race.

For those of you impressed by this story please take a few months to enlighten yourself with these basic community college classes:

Logic/Reasoning
Psychology
Child Development

And then read Richard Dawkins' Unweaving the Rainbow.

its not that uncommon for a rrod system to work randomly at times in the beginning. i'm tempted to move this thread to comedy, but i guess it can stay here for now

it might, or might not have been. like i said, sometimes after a rrod system has a chance to sit for a little while and cool off, it will temporarily recover. thats what the xenon i had did (until the problem got worse, and then i had to xclamp it, and then that didn't work. rrod is all down hill). its not divine intervention, just the way rrod boxes act.

Sorry, I'd write it there if I ever noticed that such board exists. That guy may be serious but I am not... wink.gif
