Hi all,

I recently ordered a new dvd drive and in the mean time there is not one connected to the xbox. I read somewhere that if i use teh xbox while it is not connected to a dvd drive that microsoft may ban me from xbox live as that registers as a hacking attempt. Is there any merritt to this or am I good to go to use my xbox 360 as a media server in teh mean time?

it is possible that MS can do this but it is on very iffy grounds and i doubt they do.

i myself run my box without a DVD drive alot and have never been banned.

if MS banned based on the DVD drive not responding then they could have alot of false alarms due to DVD drive failures and continued use as a madia player

Yes there is a risk of getting banned so to be safe do not run your box.
