The xbox turns on and the LEDs look like they are going through the normal boot sequence but the box doesn't give any video... Any help would be appreciated!

this must be either your AV cable or HANA/ANA chip. Try first to use a cable that works and then look further to reflow your HANA/ANA chip.

The cable seems to work. I had it plugged into my other xbox shortly before it red ringed...

Did you try again after your got RROD? maybe it got shorted after. Anyway if you are sure that the cable is fine then your only choice is to reflow the HANA/ANA chip.

P.S. Just a long shot, check the pins on the AV port if they are in position or bended. Just a thought. Maybe a pin is broken or bended.

Ya it seems like a heat related issue because after the box starts heating up after playing for about an hour, thats when it happens. I am thinking about reflowing the hana and if that doesn't work than just getting one of the new Jaspers. Is there a way to be sure you are getting a jasper?

99% anything made after 20th of April 2008 is a jasper. Mine was made in July of 2008 and its great so far. Of course to be 100% sure you must check it's power plug and its watt and ampers.

Is there any way I will be able to tell while it's still in the box? I just have a wal matt and gamestop close and they will let me check out the box but not open.

At the box there is a hole, that shows a barcode. On this sticker you will be able to check the manufacturer date and the power parameters, you need to see 12V rail 12.1A

Yes you could tell, but it is not a proven 100% method to see if it is a jasper. There are many assmply lines around the world for the XBOX, so the LOT numbers change depending the assemply line origin. Trust me and just check the dates and the power data. It is easy task to do it.
