I bought a broken xbox hard drive off eBay and when I plug it into the xbox it gives an E68. Simple enough.

When I plugged it into my computer I was actually able to read and write from it. It's some samsung drive. It had a few corrupted folders/files. I'm wondering if I can put it in a state where I can just reformat it. I know using HDDhacker and a new hard drive, you can put it in an "unformatted" state and then just format it once plugged into the 360.

How should I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance.

*Update* - it works I guess. I have to power on the 360 without the AV cable and then plug in the AV cable.

I'm guessing this is a sign that the hard drive is dying? Maybe sucking too much power. Why would it do this?
