I have an xbox (v1.6) that was modded with Xenium SP-ICE (solder-less) chip five years ago. Since then the HD has been upgraded to 500gb single F partion formatted with 32k clusters. Recently I've been experiencing intermittent frags related to the mod chip. Before the chip dies completely I'd like to convert to a soft mod. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this and preserve access to my HD without losing any of the existing media/games.

Thanks!

That is quite easy actually as your xbox is already modded with a chip.

First thing to do is set up your modchip with a retail kernel bank so that you can boot to the retail bios.

Second, boot into your modified bios, and ftp a game save (Mech Assault, Bond AUF, or Splinter Cell. whichever of the three games you may have or can get) exploit such as ndure to your xbox hd.

Third, boot to retail kernel and use the retail game to then activate the save and softmod your box.

Thanks you very much for you help. I appreciate it!
I like the simplicity in your suggestion.

Or just get the savegame onto your xbox in the proper spot, and run it from a filemanager. That doesn't even require you to have the game in question - since you have it chipped.
