I've got a brand new Elite console, not opened it up yet, for one reason. I don't know what revision firmware Lite-on it is.

I recently flashed a Lite-on with 83850c firmware but was basically drunk and put the power cable in from my CK3 in upside down wacko.gif . I burnt out the CK3 and the drive but had another drive to put in the console.

If the drive in this new elite is 83850c I haven't got an issue because I don't need the CK3 but if old firmware I'm wondering if you have to have the CK3 or can just use the probe that I still have. An older xbox I have has a power adapter on it that someone fitted for a fan so I could plug the probe in to that???

But does the probe send data through the CK3 USB?, thinking about it surely it does with the fact that you even need USB. Anyway it boils down to not wanting to open the xbox voiding the waranty if I haven't got the gear to do it. Would rather sell the elite and get a console with a known drive.

Any help appreciated.
