I just received a PM from a user here asking for help. He had a link that appeared to be for a topic on this forum, but when you click on it, it takes you to a different website that is a duplicate of the log in page for xbox-scene. I can forward the PM to a Mod if needed. Just thought I'd give a heads up before someone foolishly gives their username and password out.

I got the same, and I foolishly did.

Immediately, my email password was changed, and I had an $80 charge to my paypal...

Same here. I got the same PM as well. But I changed my password within the minute I realized that it was a fake. Which is right after I looked at the url. Hopefully I can reduce the damage to 0%.

ToBbErT <---that's the username in the PM.

Same happened to me. It seemed sketchy right away, good thing i had my wits about me to check the address bar. I replied and told him he should have just asked for my account info nicely and said he should go play in traffic. I hate shit like this on the internet. people like him are the reason why I have to bog down my computer with anti-virus, anti-spamware and anti-phishing software. fuckers

It's possible that the person sending us the PMs are probably victims themselves. So the username thing is useless to us. Well, track the IP.

Hell, give me the IP mods and I'd do it myself smile.gif

MODS are doing what they can to contain this, If you have any info such as where the direct link of the login host is please forward it to a mod or post it here ASAP.

hey guys,

i realise that some people have been sent the PM from my account..... This was not me sending the message. I got this message earlier on in the day, and stupidly clicked on the link and put my login detials in, I am assuming it has managed to take hold of my PM box because of that. I have now changed all passwords from the one I put in on that form to another more secure one.

Once again, apologies to anyone who recieved the stuipd spam thing from my mail account.

CJ

ToBbErT was the username that I got the message from initially

The webhost for that phishing scam has been filtered from our site to prevent further hijacking.
This, of course doesn't mean you're safe.

If any of you follow a link that takes you to a login page, DO NOT enter your information.

If you did submit your information, then change your password ASAP or your account will get hijacked.

How could you possibly believe a site like that, that looks NOTHING like xBox Scene!

Good luck with that though.
