it could be use used for any sata hdd as long as you supply power to it.
a non jtag console needs an HDDHackr'ed WD disk or an original drive..
This adapter only connect sata to the hdd connecter.. no power

Is there any confirmation of other big 3.5" drives besides WD working?

Also have an unrelated question: Is it okay to remove the big metal piece from the 360 case?

i have been interested in doing this.. but im still on the fence if i should or not... the only benefit i can see is faster loading times of games from hdd.. there are only 2 things keeping me from doing it is that FTP speeds at this point still leave a lot to be desired.. large files slow to 2 or less MB/s and max is around 10MB/s... i like being able to just plug my external usb drive into my pc and transfer games then plug it back into the xbox... its way faster.. plus i keep reading posts of people getting boot errors.. and i know that i have effed up my xbox drive before messing with stuff and have had to reformat it.. which would cause me to lose all the games i had on the disk and i would have to transfer them all SLOWLY over again.. is the speed benefit that great? i feel like they load quickly enough via USB.. does it make transfer from disk to drive any faster?

I have the cables sittin in front of me to do it.. basically if i do it im gonna snatch the 1tb seagate drive from the usb enclosure its in now that im using for games.. i can keep the pcb from the enclosure and easily use it to hook the drive back to the computer via usb to transfer files.. but i keep reading of HDD corruptions using xplore360 and others like it at times.. which almost makes it seem not worth it..

what to do.. what to do...

EDIT* can xplore360 even read these large (1tb+) drives?

well EKrboi, the biggest upside, at least for me, is the fact when you do this mod, you can load up the games on the HDD as GoD so you can launch the games from NXE, using an external USB HDD (as best I have seen at least) you have to use a loader of some sort i.e. XeXLoader, XeXmenu, FSD, at least untill someone (if it's even possible) removes the 16GB cap on USB storage.

Thats my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

EKrboi

After I upgraded from the MS Hdd to this, there is no turning back. The benefits from the 3.5" Hdd simply outweigh the disadvantages. Faster loading speed ....

FTP speed is not a problem. Usually get around 9+ to 10+MBS using Xexmenu. Connect console to your PC using LAN cable and you should not have any problem achieiving this speed.

There are posting that says Xplorer360 can be patched to read 1 TB Hdd. I tried, but it doesn't work for me. Also tried X360 commander but it doesn't work for me either.

Thanks a lot Frosty.

I used a 2 TB WD2001FASS, works flawlessly.

Hello, i just put in a 3.5" disk in my Falcon with the 12v mod.

Just wondering, should i use my old 360`s 203w PSU?

I mean, 203w should be better for my 360 with this mod, than 175w right? Or can i use the 175w?

175 is fine. my hdd pulls half a amp off of 12v and at full drain the power supplys still have like 5 watts extra

Okay then, so both 175w and 203w is good for the falcon with this mod then.

Good to know smile.gif

I put it on my 203w last night, so ill just keep that for now. Since im not using it for anything else anyways.

you need something like this but trim off the plastic that covers the connectors on one side. http://www.frozencpu...pter_OSA24.html attach that to the stock hdd connector then run a sata to esata cable from that to your hard drive.

So.. Xbox SATA--->"M to M adapter"<---SATA--->eSATA HDD port. Right? And no soldering?

Or maybe i can take longer SATA to eSATA cable and conect SATA in xbox MB port and esata to HDD? It would be cheaper and simplier, because it's hard to find male to male adapter..

Sorry for double posting, i can't edit other coment..
