Reballing With A Heatgun

hi

i was wondering if anybody got a good reflow after reballing gpu or cpu with a heatgun

it was something i read somewhere that it can only be done with a IR station is this true?

You can reflow a GPU successfully with a heatgun as much as with a IR station. But, the IR station is more safe. It won't heat up any other areas than the area you heat up. So your capacitors and MOSFETs are safe using it. With the heatgun you must be extremely carefull and never overdo it! You need experience to make it work fine with a heatgun (i burned 2 mainboards till I get it right).

i have a griddle to heat up the board and i have a adjustable stand to hold the heatgun
i was thinking of get a rework station to make things easier maybe

ive got
solderballs
stencil
vacuum pen
de-soldering wick
ive got flux not sure if its the right stuff

any thing else i would need to get before i start
