If I change the thermal levels I get the same 4 bad/nonmatching blocks from original. Can't you reflash with the normal nand again if the modded one fails?

Edit: Tried with my Jasper nand and I get the same bad blocks if I tinker with fan speeds/thermal settings. So we should be good eh? Time for Rawflash magic I think.

Edit 2: Okay, I managed to get 100% speed only using the xex files: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TZY1VSO7 Temps are around 48-50C. 90% and 80% works aswell.

was you using the xex files in the slim or the jasper? I have tried the fanspeedxex on the slim before but had no luck with them working, but i think i done it wfong as i didn't patch the autospeed.xex file first..............sudeki300

On the slim. Used 100.xex at first and it worked straight away.

cool findings BTslo, i'll try once i'm home from work. at least there is some sort of fix at the moment for the slims until there is a dashboard can have fan sliders that can be changed on the fly like FSD..........................sudeki300

sorry for the double post but i could not find the edit button (if there is one) i have got the fanspeed xex.files running all the way down to 50%, that should be as low as anyone would want to go. this is the what i have got:

60% fan speed you get a idle temp of about 39-40C on the CPU and GPU just under the CPU temp.

50% fan speed you get a idle temp of about 45-46C on the CPU and GPU just under the CPU temp.

these were both done in freestyle dash for about 10 - 15 mins, then the temp would just go up and down by 1C. this great news for all slim RGH users that have found that they have high 70C temps even in freestyle dash. if anyone wants these files please pm with email address and i'll send them over, i don't think they are allowed to be posted here as they are xex files................................sudeki300

Those sound like reasonable temps. I doubt FSD is too far off the mark. Better safe than sorry, in the long run.

^His temps are in Fahrenheit

Where did you buy yours, mine doesn't sound that quiet and didn't come with a 12v switch.

I have one of th newer whisper legacy fans. It is almost silent. THey use liquid bearings of some kind.

I have to agree with relaxx and sudeki regarding inaccurate temperature readings on the slims.

I had my slim JTagged a few weeks ago by a local reputable technician, and he set things up so that it boots into FSD 2.2.725. Temperature readings when using "Auto" mode were quite high; CPU temps were in the 79-81 degree range, with the GPU temp ~4 degrees lower, memory ~8 degrees lower, and the case hovering around 49-50 degrees. XexMenu (which was also installed) showed similar readings.

During these first few weeks, I've had the fan set at 65% speed, which lowered the CPU to ~57 degrees. However, I'm not a "fan" of the noise, as I've been used to a whisper-quiet XBox for the past 18 months. tongue.gif

At any rate, I've just set the fan back on "auto" (i.e. whisper-quiet mode), and after 45 mins the air coming out of the console feels no hotter than from before my slim was JTagged. The console case itself isn't hot to the touch at all. This leads me to believe that all is functioning normally, with no need for me to ramp up the fan's speed.

This is good news, as during the past couple of weeks I've been looking into options to either replace the fan with a quieter one, or have the NAND flashed with lower temperature threshold settings. Since I had my XBox JTagged by someone else, I had no desire to try implementing either of these options myself.

At any rate, I'll try running things in "auto" mode for the next few days / weeks to be sure that all remains well (i.e. no red dot of temporary death). I just wish I found this thread sooner... so many XBox threads to read through, but most of them aren't very useful because they mainly deal with the old XBox consoles, or deal with older versions of FSD that didn't support fan control on slims.

Thanks,
Visor

if I install a Talismoon Whisper fan with those LED lights bought from hong kong in my jtag falcon,

1) will it reduce the temps significantly?

2) will it reduce the noise

Currently I set the fan to 100% in FSD 3 and I get temp of GPU and Memory approaching 60C after some gaming, Idile they sit at around 52C (that is GPU and EDRAM)

The case and CPU seem to be much cooler, with CPU at around 40-45C.

Also will Heat sinks and thermal pads on the HANA chips make much differance to the temperatures?
