My xbox has an Hitachi drive GDR-3120L, rom ver. 0078K. The PCB appears to be dead as when console power is turned on, the laser does not even flash and the eject button has no effect. I swapped the PCB from another Hitachi drive, and the the laser flashes and eject works. So again, appears to be bad PCB. But with a dead PCB, what are my choices? Especially since it seems that the firmware cannot be retrieved from original pcb to put on a new pcb. Are there ways or repair places that can read the firmware from old dead pcb and on put on a new pcb? Thanks for anyone's help.

The SST chip can be pulled and dumped with a programmer to get the key from it.
