OK i just have a real quick question......
I have an x2lite chip. I know it uses a 1024k bios. And i know it has a bios switch. If i use x2bm and put say the x2 4977 bios in the first 2 256k banks, and say D.6 in the last 2 banks, what bios is running when the jumper/switch is on? How does it work? when the jumper is on does it only read banks 1 and 2 (or 3 and 4). Just a real quick answer so i understand this would be great... thanks a lot

My understanding is that if the jumper is on, it will read Bank 1. If it is off, it will read Bank 2. There are 2 banks...not 4.

Yeah but he still needs to fill them up, only technically there are 2 banks, banks 1+2 physically on the chip are seen as bank1 to me and you, leaving banks 3+4 as bank2 to us. Or atleast thats how i understand it.

Erm, yes...in a sense. I didn't think you had to fill them up, though. I am under the impression that if you have a 256K BIOS image in Bank 1, it will load properly.

Like xeero said. You have a lite, you have 2 banks. Each bank is 512 or 2x256...Im guessing you have the 2.0 right?
Jumper on is bank 0-1.
Jumper off is bank 2-3.
If flash is enabled you can flash the whole 1024, not just the selected bank.

Sorry, but I fell asleep before I clicked post.

Actually, FlashX will let you bank-flash.

Ya, but I what I meant was, be careful your whole 1024 is volatile, not just which ever bank you have selected.

ok cool thanks i think i got it. So (just for example) say i wanted to to flash my chip with a x2 4977 and d.6. I put the x2 4077 in the 1st bank (which on x2bm is the first 2 256k banks) and d.6 on the 2nd bank (which in x2bm is the last 2 256k banks). Turn off my flash protection switch (i made myself cause yes i do have a 2.0) and run evox, flash the bastard. and with the switch on it's readin the x2 4977 bios and with it off it's readin the d.6..... ok now do i NEED to edit my ini? I know i do for it to recognise it but is it absolutely necessary or will it work fine if i dont. thanks for all the help so quick guys!

You are absolutely correct. However, with the newer versions of EvoX, no editing is needed at all. You're better off leaving it alone.

alright thanks a lot guys. I feel like i can do a lot more now. i dont know why but i'm happy that all the time i spent on making my external switches wont be for nothing. Now i use them all, even if for right now it's only to have different color animations to show off for my friends. But isn't that was half of this is about, being unique? THanks a lot again i appreciate it a lot!

P.S. hell yeah just in time i just became a senior member!!!!!!!!!!!
