I don't know if this has been done before but I couldn't find it anywhere.
So my friends ps3 would not stop yellow lighting. I'd reflowed it a couple of times but a week or so later it would just yellow light again. I've constantly looked at the ps3s heatsink and hated it and its fan. So here's what I did.

It's dirty as hell.

I'm going to have to pretty much just cut out the bottom of the case (if i even use it) and mount the fan in there somehow. But so far it's been running for an hour and it's been fine.

you didn't have to do anything major for it to fit? and doesn't the ps3 have a sensor for the original fan?
