I have 3 consoles from 3 different environments (houses) all with the same issue.

They didn't read discs.

I cleaned, re-lubed, replaced the belts in all of them
And they all read discs again.

Untill the lasers travel to far back on the rails,
They move so far back from the spindle that they
Can't see the next disc that goes in.

I have to open the console then the drive and push
The laser back down towards the spindle

Then it reads again.

So I think the lasers are good, but why do they travel so far back
And how do I fix this?

Put thin rubber spacers on the back of the drive rails but don't put to many because it will screw up the function and not read discs at all or freeze during gameplay. And I have experianced that liteon models 74x, 83x, and 83x v2 has this problem it seems to have been fixed on the 93x.

I use the smallest plastic zip tie I have. Put the locking tab down or the laser won't go back enough. Works great.
