i dont care what they spin/mix/warp, im in need of something i havnt heard before, or rather someone. dont wanna waste time getting something i know nothing about on the off chance it might be good. did that with a rave cd once, dear god it sucked. if i hear some worthwhile comments on someones style, ill definitely check them out one way or another =)

If you don't like the over-played commercial stuff above, try to find anything by DJ Shinkawa.

http://www.djshinkawa.com
He's amazing, although he does definitely have bad nights too, when he's not really trying. I've not been out clubbing in a while, but I might go out just to hear him again. He's the quietest you'll ever meet. You have to beat a greeting out of him, but he can bang the toons. As before, I've not been out in a while, BUT, some oldies but definitely fucking goodies:
Go to the "works" link:
[ORIGINAL ALBUM SIDE]

make a miracle
KISS-O-Matic - he actually remixed this. It is:
1: the best UK-Hard House track ever
2: one of the most sought-after records in Japan (500 copies only)
3: The sexiest track I've ever heard
4: Old, but he still plays it. It's his baby.
5: Also rereleased on Club Shinkawa Vinyl (and mixed into the mix CD)

VIRTUAL-ON "ORATORIO TANGRAM"
V.A This is lame, but worth mentioning. He wasn't really "allowed" to be creative. They kinda told the artists how the tracks should sound. Lots of other Japanese dj's on this.

THE AFTER WORLD
'98 (PARATONE) - Very nice, but the recording quality of the record is total bullshit. Two sided -- Afterworld and The Kitchen Dancer - both great tracks.

CROSS and OVER
Crossover is the party he's been a resident of for the last fucking forever. The CDs are good, but have some lame shit on them two. A10, is fucking unBELIEVABLE and Critical Mass is also a nice glittery techno track.

[REMIX Stuff]
Tidy Trax: This happens quite a bit. A label hires a JPN DJ to remix their tracks for a mix CD. This CD, is really good, especially if you like Tidy Trax stuff.

Club Shinkawa: Hybrid Hard House: Not bad, but him playing live is better.

No joke, I've had 2 nights out that I will *NEVER* ever forget. They involved me, one friend (and an extra on one night) and Shinkawa, rocking the house. No chics, no bullshit, just listening to his music from roughly 4AM to 10AM and two different clubs... we even walked from club to club in the nasty ass Sunday morning metropolis of Tokyo. Aaah...memories... I"m getting a bit teary-eyed.

I even told him a week or two later... "Dude -- do that again!" He was a bit puzzled. I'm not sure if he knows he has up and down times. He's kinda seasonal.

Might be hard to find the stuff, but worth it if you do.

I guess while we're on the topic - worst shows I've seen that I thought would be good.
Armand Van Heldon when I visited New York - crap. I left early.

Tiesto spins the phattest mixes (well, at least live he does), BT r0x tha house... sander kleinenberg has some really dark, progressive house/trance... um, oakenfold sucks a dick... so does digweed, but sasha is a gawd... uhhhhhh.... LRCN is plaing on DI Live Mixes right now... sounds like generic trance to me, but hey, it'll get your head bobbing...

EDIT: OMG! I can't believe I forgot my fav DJ(s): DEEP DISH!!! their two GU mixes are so fucking hot!!
