before i start; I've tried to find related problems but could t find them. I am even not sure i started this thread in the right forum because it could be several in forums in my opinion (firmware / version systemupdate / banned) So please don't hammer me down smile.gif

Here it is.

Friend of mine has an banned Xbox with the kinect-Dash on it (installed himself by flash-drive) and he bought a Kinect-sensor.

The game (original /back-up) works, it shows the developers logo etc. But as soon as he plugged in his Kinect which you (obvious) need, then the console report that it needs a system-update and want to connect to the Internet.

Like i stated, this occurs also when he tries a original game. I am really stuck here, no idea what triggers this need for an update unsure.gif

If you could think with me, this would be much appreciated !

First time I plugged in the Kinnect hardware (no game in the drive) I was prompted for an update.

I'm don't think this was a online update, just something that is already built into the dashboard I assumed.

Make sure he is running the official dash 2.0.12611 and not the leaked beta dash.

I bought a kinnect yesterday and connected it to my banned xbox and the same thing happened it required an updated on the retail disc (Kinnect Sport). However it obtained the update from the disc itself are you sure its trying to access the internet?

Go here:
http://www.xbox.com/...ort/UpdateSteps
Get the update, extract and put it on a usb stick in full with $systemupdate folder in the root of the drive, put it in the machine and turn it on. Likely all it really needs is the avatar and kinect files installed.
