Hey.. I picked up a used 360 about a year ago, maybe more.. Pre-HDMI era.. I jungleflashed with I think it was the .5 release at the time.. Never really use it for anything, was just kind of a 'something to do with it' situation, wanted to try and see if I could do it.. I did, it worked, box sat unused..

Fast-forward to now.. I have acquired a 20gb drive and slapped it on there, thinking I'd bring it to life as a media player.. I run TVersity (which works fine with my main 360, stock), got this modded unit all set up, and went to play a show and I get an error/notice that in order to play avi content I need to update my system. This sounds familiar from back in the day.. But I'm wondering if my older flashed drive/system is going to have a problem with this.. I'm no master and don't want to brick/kill the box, nor the efuses or anything. Can I connect and download the update, or should I re-attempt a newer flash before/after doing so? I had some issue with finding a system at the time to do it originally (everyone rants about Via chipsets and XP, I run like 5 computers and NONE have a via chip for sata. So I'd rather not have to try the flash route if I don't have to, but, by the same token, getting this thing to play avi's is priority #1.

I'm also wondering if they ever released a cd update, like they did back in the day for original xbox game compatitability, where I could download this update and install via usb or cd..? Help? smile.gif

Well after 93 hits and not a SINGLE reply, I decided screw it, and did the firmware update and created the boxes first live account (guess the previous owner never did anything online, it let me create my free 30 day gold account), got the required update to play avi's, etc., and all is well, I guess.. No idea if my system was flagged or whatever, or if anything bad will happen a week, month, 2 years down the road.. Plays the files now though, so all is good.
