All,

I'm looking for a chip or softmod that will allow me to backup and play my original Xbox 360 disc....any suggestions????

are you looking to play your backups in your xbox 360 dvd drive,if so you need to flash your dvd drives firmware chip

No, I just want the ability to play from the hard drive. I have kids and trying to stay away from disc. I used to do this on my xbox 1 but I do not know where to start on the 360. I am comfortable with soldering if necessary.

If you want to do away with the discs all together then you'll need to JTAG your box. However your box will need to be exploitable and it's doubtful it will be as they're getting rarer all the time because of the dash updates. If you're on a Dash 7371 or below then you're in luck, if not then you'll have to flash the drives firmware to play backups of your originals.

Also Microsoft has a built in feature that lets you copy all your game disks to the hard drive and play them from there. Of course you need to have the game disk in the drive to load from the hard drive. If your drive is firmware modded that disk could be a backup as well as a retail game disk.

Ok..looks like the only choice I have is to make backups and keep them on hand.
