My laser was having unreadable disc/open tray errors. I have tried cleaning it multiple time, but now i have decided to change the laser. I have successfully changed the laser, but now when it tries to read the disc, the laser just stays in place and does not move. anyone know the problem? Would it also work if i buy the same Samsung dvd drive and swap the logic boards? my current drive is modded, and if i buy a new one, would i have to mod that also?

thanks:)

yes, i have tried multiple time. Would it work if i buy an identical samsung drive, and swap the PCM board inside of them? i was wondering if it would still be able to play backups

Yes it will work as long as there is nothing wrong with your circuit board.

I had a similar issue , come to find out it was because of where I left the laser after installing it. I had to push it up against the spindle area for it to work.
Also if it was a brand new laser there might be 2 points that need to be unsoldered from each other.
