I am thinking about sending it. but do you have any inputs on the matter? any kind of guess might help too lol.. ph34r.gif

these jaspers are so random. ALWAYS giving me random issues while every other chipset works just fine.

The first couple things that come to mind are, bad SPI port means NAND removal and flashing in a external programmer without a doubt. The original problem could mean any number of things. Faulty CPU or SB BGA connections. Maybe SMC variance? Did you try flashing the donor freeboots? Did you try injecting a type 1 KV, banned even? What about old XBR donor image? I have seen issues where bad blocks played a part in something similar to this. If you run out of options I will take a look at it. *Likes the challenge*

tbh, i've not had any issues like this with the "few" jaspers i've tagged. really.

not quite. cygnos360v2's are particularly good at getting around a blown spi port. chips are usually $35 and install is around as much. letsmod/vgcrepairs has them in stock and he has peerless soldering skills. plus shipping both ways, of course.

further, my uneducated opinion is that you shorted something and blew the spi.

it could be worse if xellous won't flash, but i haven't seen that situation - but i'd imagine a bad block (or esd, but no one ever talks about that here and i doubt many (yourself includes) protect against it) caused a bad/incomplete xellous flash. hope for the former.

Fair enough. From my point of view its easier to just pull the NAND flash it and then resolder. I do this on a regular basis. I do it for $50 plus return shipping.

From his point of view, its probably cheaper for me to do just that instead of him pay for the cygnos $35, pay for the install $35 and then pay shipping both ways $30?

Not to mention, the KV issue still would need to be solved afterwards.
