I thought all dvd dl are 8.5 gb. I have sony and verbatim disks that both say that they have 8.5 gb capacity.

Is your information correct or is there some other difference that I am missing.

They are actually 7.95 GB or something like that.

because manufacturer use 1000
but OS use 1024

all storage media is like that, the capacity on label is using 1000, hench shown bigger but the actual size viewed from OS is much smaller due to divided by 1024.

here is a break down of the real DVD+R DL disc space
Free Space: 8,547,991,552 B /1024
Free Space: 8,347,648 KB/1024
Free Space: 8,152 MB/1024
Free Space: 7.96 GB

XGD3 image = 8,738,846,720 B/1024
8534030 KB/1024

an ISO always is a little bigger than the burnt disc because of the overhead for TOC and layout info and all that good stuff I think when you put the disc in XBC it is 8.07GB witch comes out to about 8,665,096,519 bytes

yeah, I meant 8.5gb usable, sorry.

Basically the DVD equivalent of the CDR-70 or CDR-90. Just depends how much it would cost to outfit a factory for squeezing in a little extra data and whether it is worth it for them. There is demand but it is still quite niche compared to the market as a whole.

Thanks for that info tulleyfish, I just checked my IMGburn for an update and sure enough, the latest version has the ability to truncate. Backed up my original Gears 3 and the burn works just fine, thanks! Now test burn the others!

Every time I try to load the BENQ 2.0 in Lizard toolbox, it freezes up completely. Only the BENQ 2.0 does this.
