Unfortunately i have made the mistake of updating a friends 360 to the latest dash, 14699 via usb. Truncated XGD3 backups no longer work (i tried 3 different games) so i have some questions if anyone can help.

Will any games work at all now?

If XGD3 games are burnt using an iHAS drive with Burner Max firmware, will they work? (bearing in mind this is a Hitachi 46 drive)

What exactly is causing the XGD3 games to no longer work, as i would like to understand it.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

the first thing u need to do is find out the complete drive history of that drive and replace the hitachi with what is supposed to be in there. next, update everything.

What firmware is the drive on? You might need to swap out the hitachi for a drive that can read ap 2.5 sectors (llike a liteon or benq)

I should have said that the drive was returned to stock, dashboard was updated to 14699 and the drive was then flashed with LT Plus 2.0, it is the original drive that came with the console.

I had a problem with a hitachi 46 aswell, it just would not read xgd3's, the laser in them is not very good and xgd3's put an extra strain on it, all xgd2's worked fine though. Also are truncated games supported with hitachi lt+ 2.0?

Hi I have a good reply to your question:

I have recently purchased the ihas 124 B, and a friend has given me an old xbox 360, non HDMI version with a Hitachi 3120L version 59 drive.

I flashed it with LTplus59 2.0 firmware found the disks would not read so I got an old Hitachi 3120L 79 drive and swapped the boards from 59 drive to the 79 drive. Now plays xgd3 games burnt with the above drive perfectly.

I rip them with a BenQ drive with 0800 v3 firmware.

If you put the disk in and the game picture does not come up high light the tile that usually has the game picture in and press X and run the game from there.

With the ihas 124 B you will not have to Truncate it will burn to 100% finalize and verify as normal.
