I'm new to the 360 scene, but have been doing Xbox Softmods for a while. I'm about to place an order at xconsoles.com and want to make sure I'm getting all the necessary hardware.

All i want to do is play backups. LIVE is nice, but not required.

I'm ordering the following hardware:

Liteon IHAS124-B Burner Max Compatible DVD+R DL Writer (for burning games)
VIA6421 PCI Sata Card (to connect my 360 drive to the PC)

And I have 2 questions which i haven't really seen answered:

1.) The liteon drive can burn 360 games (with modified FW) but can it rip the games?
2.) and I've yet to see anywhere (in the JungleFlasher guides or elsewhere) where it says where to connect the 360's drive's power. Does it need to be kept in the 360 while flashing fw or do i need an external power connector?

Thanks in advance for any and all help on the subject.

1. No its for burning only obtain a native 360 liteon or benq drive and use it with the 0800V3 cfw to rip the games. kreon drives cant rip XGD3 so they are of no use any more.

2. best to power the drive externally as powering the xbox console with the sata port unattached flags the system for a ban.

either purchase a ck3 or use an old 360 motherboard that you dont care about if you have one lying around.

Thanks for the response.

I assume the CK3 Mini would be plenty for what i need? Also, do i need something to extract the dvd key? I have a BenQ drive. Thanks again for helping the newbie.

Crap, they are sold out of the IHAS 124-B. What would the next best drive?
