I have used a jumper on pins 4 and 6 of the dvd power connection to run the console with no disc drive. I have also tried to bridge them with a wire.
It boots fine without a disc drive, but the problem is that when a hard drive is plugged in, the system runs very slow, and the hard drive is not recognized.
any solutions?
I've tested every angle and have determined it has to be this mod. when a disc drive is plugged in, the system runs perfectly. I tried a few other hard drives and the same thing happens, Ive tried that hard drive in other consoles and it works fine.

Any help would be awesome.

Using an xbox 360 slim so I don't know if the pins are the same as they were on the "phat" models or if I am even doing the right pins, just what I've come up with from research.
