OK lads I've just chipped my first xbox (well did 4 i one go) useing the cheaper mod.

One of them is for a mate that wants to use his 'xbox live'.
Its already installed and working BUT he want to also change the drive for a bigger one ?

So my Question.. can you reinstall xbox live ?(after the new drive is in ) or can you just back up the files it uses and copy them on to the new drive ?

Also does xbox live in any way lock to the hardware ?

I ask the last qusetion as due to a little accident i had with a drop of solder, his xbox wont run withOUT the mod swiched on. So he may well have to have one of my xbox mobos, as i wont be useing 'live' with it so wont need to turn the chip off..

Sorry if this has been covered before in posts.. i did search but couldnt find any help...

i think you can save live data to a mem card

anywaym the HD needs to be locked (with configmagic) and it will work on live with the chip off

locking the HD doesnt effect anything really, except that the BOIS/dash will recognize it with the chip off
