Xbox Now! leaks just ahead of its May 21st event
Posted by GaryOPA | May 19 11:48 EST | News Category: Xbox_Xbox360

More info has appeared on the 'net regarding Xbox Now!

It seems the latest info has leaked out regarding the Xbox Now! system, and it shows that the specs for Now! are even higher then previous rumors claimed!

Xbox-Scene

We are almost at the big event date of May 21st, when under the big tent that Microsoft has setup, we will learn all about the new Xbox Now! console, and just ahead of that event some more information has leaked out, showing that the specs. are very nice.

* There is now a full 12 gigabytes of high-speed RAM in the new Xbox Now! console, unlike the previous rumors of only 8gb.
* To be precise, there is 4gb GDDR5 on the GPU and 8gb GDDR5 on the 8-Core IBM custom CPU.
* The GPU is the first GCN 2.0 GPU produced and was designed by special team of MS+IBM+AMD.
* Eric from IBM will be a speaker on the 21st. with more info like the fact the GPU specs. are a mindblogging 4.9 TFlops.

And finally Dutch journalist Jan Meijroos said on Twitter his Xbox Now! papers for Tuesday say 'hands on', that will be real slap on the face for Sony, if the Xbox Now! is right there 'available now' to try out within the big tent for everyone to see and hear in real-action!

If this turns out to be true, Microsoft might have just won the console wars for this generation.

You must be on drugs if you really think these specs are for the new xbox. 4.9 tlfops? 12gb ram? Lol. Thanks for the laughs.

Not that far fetched.... My PC has 16GBs of ram and an 8 core CPU clocked at 4GHZ stock.

Lets hope this is true.

8GB of system RAM and 4GB of video RAM is not unrealistic. 4.9tflops is a little bit more than a 7970, which is almost 15 months old at this point. I don't know if these rumors are true, but I wouldn't think them impossible. I would just wonder how Microsoft could maintain those margins and survive.

These details appear to have come from someone on 4chan posing as a Rare employee. I'd take it all with a big pinch of salt tongue.gif . But it's interesting to note that www.xboxnow.com directs you to www.xbox.com.

Some other bits of info from the leaker...

Referred to as neXtBox throughout development period, KineXbox to those looking for a beating, but the official title is... "Xbox Now!"

Yes, it even has that little explanation point at the end, the ’Xbox Now!’
Specs; 7000-series AMD, Backwards compatibility, access to featured ’channels’ and social networking dependent on membership status, as previously stated, and subscription to the "Now!" service.

At launch capable of viewing in 3D, with added option of playing disc media such as DVD’s and Blu-Ray’s once again depending on Now! and membership period.

Like Kinect, Xbox Now! required adequate space to function properly. The design has remained largely unchanged from the previous Xbox 360 Slim version, a bit of artsy decal on the side that has "Now!" written across it.
It looks gaudy as hell, and extremely tacky, but what do I know...

The bit about the decal sounds totally bogus to me laugh.gif . Backwards compatibility would be nice though!

I wish the 21st would hurry!

That would be interesting if it wasn't for this:

Well time for history lesson then.

If you big as M$, you can mess with 'history' of whois, and change dates.

Real History:

XboxNow.com in 2000 is register and buyer puts up screen asking for $50,000 greenbacks.

XboxNow.com launches as Xbox gaming FAN site with forums and news back in 2001

Runs for a while, until the admin gets sick with cancer, his last post is in Aug. 2005

Site stays stuck as-is for another 2 years until the already paid register/bills run out in Sept. 2008

In 2011 it is reborn as redirect to BING as M$ control search phrase

In 2013 it starts to redirect instead directly to XBOX.com

Bring in the rumors i guess. Oh right thats been happening already. Xbox now! Mmm what is this, its my birthday and ill cry if i want to... NOW. Marketing team on that one? I think not, if they are stupid enough to release as that i will eat my hat.. As for the specs, while possible it would knock the price well up above the expected and sony's console, i do not see that happening in the slightest, yea i have a comp with 16gb system ram, did i pay extra for it, yes, is there any game in the slightest that ever comes close to taking even 8gb? no.

Consoles always ship with older hardware for its reliability and they have never overtaken the standard average PC (could be a first but i doubt.) Now, other than 4chan nabs which ofc is where all the legit info comes from, just like the reddit image logo that some places called 100% legit, give me a real source. XboxReveal is so close i actually don't really care, not even 48hrs now.

Consoles always have to be designed with the future in mind, not the present. These machines are built for 8-10 year life cycles. With the ability to mass order IT technology that MS has, and the technological regression RAM and CPU prices have seen, those specs are completely possible. The MS Powerpoint link last year did set a 8gb minimum RAM target, so it is not completely out of the realm of possibility.

That's not really "messing" with the history though, is it? That's just stating that the domain has existed before Microsoft owned it. Microsoft owns a tonne of domains like that and as you've pointed out, this one has been in their possession since at least 2011. How on earth is this "evidence" of anything? Especially evidence of anything in the post above? You haven't even included a link to any kind of source for that information. As near as I can tell, the whole "proof" revolves around that domain being owned by MS, which proves nothing.

Chill out, dude. Nobody is claiming anything as "evidence" or "proof". All that was being said is it's interesting how xboxnow.com redirects to xbox.com. Everything is just speculation and rumour at this point. No need for drama ph34r.gif .

Besides XboxNow.com, the other site 'XboxFusion.com' has now started redirecting to the main Xbox.com site

If you study the web source code on the #xboxreveal page, you will notice that M$ is using the code letters, 'x2f' in the user tracking code, and 'x2fhub' and 'x2freveal' for the java source pages.

It could be FUSION is the name of the console, and NOW! is the name of the new Live.
