I saw someone who put leds inside the controller ports themselves, so you could only really see it when the controller wasnt plugged in. Welll how do i get a led inside hte metal casing of the controller port? Is there an easier way to do this?

I did this on my dreamcast controller ports, and from what i've seen it is the same basic format for the xbox controller ports. You have to peel back the metal covering the back of the controller ports, exposing the pins of the usb headers. Then you stick an LED behind it and hot glue it in place. I'm not sure if the DVD drive/plastic tray will get in the way of it though.

If you're good at drilling (or have an extra set of controller ports), you can just drill a 3mm (or 5mm) hole in the back (push the drill so that the tip just goes thru the metal). Insert your LED up to the shoulder, wire it up and viola!

what is wrong with you people? why does everyone need pics and a complete tutorial before they attempt a mod? Especially with something as simple as LED's. dry.gif

Yes, Ben999, we do. well I at least want to know where to get the power from, and what resistors to use if I were to put a 5mm Blue LED in each port.

That is REALLY hard to make out. Looks like you hot boxed the room you took the pics in...

No need to post more pics if you dont want to, just a description of wiring would be good. Thank you.

settle down Ben999 mellow.gif , it seems drewb didnt mind posting them, for some of us who might need a little more clarification. Its not like we were asking for a 1000 word tut.

sorry guys for the long wait...solder a wire to the top right solder point that is where the two rows of points. There is one on the left and right of the daughter board and its on the top. I used a 3mm led and a 100ohm resistor. The leds are grounded to the controller ports and the backs must be ripped of with pliers or wedgers or something. You should be able to see where it is hooked on. This mod is fairly easy but im sorry about hte lack of instructions for it. wink.gif
