To Clear Up The 12v Mod Rumors.

To do the 12v you can either by a 3 pin to 4 pin adapter to use power from the HD or the easier way IMO is to do this:
Cut the black wire right before it goes in the adapter for the motherboard. Now you can do this next thing in many different ways. What I did was twist the wire to itself and then make a little whole at the end so I could just slip it on the prong where it used to connect to through the connector. However, since it is connected directly, it is modded to 12v. I put some electrical tape around the side of the prong on top of the wire so it wouldnt come off. You can also just solder the wire to the prong but this way it easier to fix if somehow broken for me. HOWEVER, you can also splice a little bit of the outter coating off the black HDD wire and tie it to that. Many other people say you can put it under a screw and that will work but I havent tried that. Honestly, if you just put the black wire to any ground point on the motherboard it will work.
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING WITH THE RED WIRE!!

this is what i did.
I cut the black cable that goes to the motherboard from the 12V Fan and screwed it to a screw on the motherboard so that it could be my ground then i got the HDD cable and plugged it on my cable adapters from the 12V Fan and when i go to turn on the XboX it turns on and then off and then on again and it blinks yellow and red
what am i doing wrong? i need help

youre not doing any thing wrong, but what i suggest you do is instead of putting the black wire on the screw, put in onthe metal sheilding on the case

you just yank the black wire that is connected to the Fan, and ground it to any black wire in the xbox?
from my "simple" understanding?

what, i thought the LED in the xbox was red, green, and amber, there is also a yellow??? or do you need glasses,J/P
the xbox has a bicolored led (green, red) and when they both blink together it becomes amber. i thought everyone knew this, hehe.

and I have a 7200rpm HDD, can I cut out the part of the HDD tray with the warning on it, so the HDD can get some air as well? or will that take too much air from the CPU?
