The Pogopin Menace Defeated But...
Posted 14 August 2003 - 04:39 PM
xecuter 2.2 lite plus, the pogopin kind, no soldering.
I keep getting the FRAG after booting with the chip enabled.
Otherwise it works fine, boots up to MS every time with the chip disabled.
I'm told that the chip comes preflashed with cromwell.
I've checked to make sure my points are clean, though I don't know why because I didn't need to solder anything.
The two blue and one green led's light up every time when disabled.
I've checked the points on the chip itself to see if i have a dry point but i don't.
the box tries to boot up twice with green light then frag.
I checked to see if my "connections" were sound and they are. I also tried flipping to the other of two bios banks provided by the switch but no luck.
Someone please help me out here. I just bought my new xbox circa april 2003.
What do i do to fix this problem?
p.s. could an expert reply quickly because i'm getting antsy here...
The solution without the usage of a progammer or soldering would be X-elent.
I made one funny....

Second: all my points are squecky clean.
I've got a question:
if i need to scratch my d0, then were exactly? i know that it should be making good contact and it is according to that green led which lights on only with d0 contact with its pogopin. I've got a great magnifying device, makes the d0 look like the grand canyon and good diagrams courtesy of xbox scene (thank you!) so I don't think that's a problem.
My LPC wells are good because I can see the tip of the pogopins at the back of the mobo.
About this flashing from elswhere, how and where???
I have a friend with a modded version 1.0 or 1.1, he bought it a year ago at least.
So if i don't want to spend more cash on a programmer, how do i do it?
A final question: could chip heat be a problem? I read that somewhere and my chip does get kinda warm when i turn it on but not more than "normal."
again, quick replies much appreciated!
p.s. is it possible to "accidentally flash the bios" while installing the chip?
i had to test it several times by turning on the power before finally getting the little green led to turn on.
I'm desperate, staying up nights hoping my 60 hard earned dollars haven't gone to waste...
