Anyways, my newly modded xbox with a 120 gig samsung hardrive decides to start clicking last night. it boots the X-Box splash screen but stops where it should say "Xecuter 2" and instead makes a consistant clicking noise. Any ideas? It seems the hardrive might be dead :/

yeah i dont think this has anything to do with the xbox. It is a basic hard drive failure. If you have a warranty on the hard drive i suggest your return and replace it.

Yep "clicking" is what a drive does when it is dying, sorry.

Just thought too, HD will click somtimes if they are under powered aswell. They require a slightly high power consumption at first spin up.
I have had a case with a PC where the HD wasnt getting enough power
at bootup, and would click like crazy. I would plug the HD into your PC and see if it still make the clicking noise. If so then the drive is prob spent. But its worth a try to see if the drive is really the prob.

alright, give me a minute and i'll try that. but it seems that it wouldn't have run at all for the first week it worked if that was the case.

Yeah, i put the hard drive in my comp and it still makes click noises, so back to newegg it goes. The second problem, though, is that the old hard drive is giving me error 16 >:/. Thats improper modchip alignment if the old hardrive was running evox perfectly before?

Error 16 is a dashboard error or related files.

Try and boot it with an evox cd and check to see that your
files are in order.
