I have a problem booting originals on a confirmed working dvd drive even though most copies boot fine. I have a v1.0 running a cheapmod, X2 4977 bios, Exov 3752 and a 120Gb WD HD. Everything was working fine ie originals and copies booting without problems, I was using Xcommander browsing the HD and it locked up. I rebooted only to find that Evox reported the F: drive as 0 bytes. I reformatted the entire harddrive and reinstalled everything. It's just that now no orginals will boot but copies boot fine. If I ftp games via ftp some work some won't. I've tried Hdd loader to no avail. If I put my HD into a different modded xbox the games that wouldn't boot off the HD before will boot fine. The dvd drive works fine in a different xbox also. Any suggestions, I've searched but have not found anything similar to this problem. Please help.

Do you make all your backups to CD-RW by any chance??? If this is the case, then perhaps the DVD laser diode sh*t the bed.

All backups are on dvd-r and they all work as long as the dvd drive is installed in a different xbox.
