Scenyx Entertainment Community _ XBMC for Xbox _ Xbmc Fox - Firefox Extension

Posted by: LiquidIce629 Apr 15 2006, 03:23 AM

XBMC Fox beta1
by LiquidIce

This adds a new option to the right click menu in Firefox which will send URLS to XBMC (Xbox Media Center) for onscreen playback.

It also allows you to paste the URL of any video or audio file on the web into a textfield and have it play on your TV.

Install this extension like you would any other. usually just dragging the XPI file into the browser works well.

Once installed, restart Firefox, then goto Tools -> Extensions and select XBMC Fox

Press the Options Button at the bottom of the window

In the options box type in the ip address of your xbox.

Make sure that the webserver is enabled on your XBMC by going to:
Settings --> Network -> Servers -> Web Server

Go to a website that links directly to media files. Such as this one:
http://hl.udogs.net/files/Gaming/Bungie%20Related%20Movies/MWSF%202000/Freewill%20Halo%20Video/

Right click on a link and goto 'Play in XBMC'.

You can also go to Tools - Paste URL to XBMC and paste in the URL to any audio/video file.

IPB Image

I would like to hear some comments on ways to make little javascripts which could scrape links from the various video sites and display clickable links to play the content on the tv. Perhaps a greasemonkey script would also be useful to add 'send to xbox' links to all of the major video sites.

--

I am awaiting approval to mozdev, which will provide an easier installation. Until then you can download the XPI file from sourceforge here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/download.php?group_id=87054&atid=581840&file_id=174658&aid=1470650

Save it to disk then drag the .XPI file into your firefox window to install.

Excellent job beerchug.gif .

Posted by: Noodlez Apr 15 2006, 07:46 AM

Now that is pretty neat,
Not 100% sure what i would need it for but none the less it's a very neato idea. I likes it.

Excelent. Even better than what I sugested in the ajax interface thread. Thanks a bunch!

No Shit

This is very nice a love Firefox i love extentions and i do love XBMC

I'll try this at once

Nice work indeed

Posted by: LiquidIce629 Apr 15 2006, 02:56 PM

All we're doing here is calling a command from the HTTP API called PlayFile

/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=playfile&parameter=http://media.com/file.mpg

Does anyone know if other media players have a similar feature? MythTV? A modded Tivo? Roku? Can a MCE PC be rigged to do the same? Maybe I can easily add support for other players to make this extension more useful.

Also, Donno on IRC had a good idea. I should make a Firefox sidebar that will scrape the currently viewed site for any media urls and display them as links which would play the media on the xbox. If there is anyone out there with some Regular Expression Skills that wants to give me a hand with that, shoot me an email:

Yea I mentioned it in the ajax thread too. There use to be a script/program called url paster that did the same thing but it stoppe working after awhile.

Anyways i tested and all it does is bring up the "caching" dialogs on xbmc and then does nothing. am I doing something wrong?

Here's my log :

Maybe the site your trying to play from isn't connecting on the xbox?

Try to play one of the direct http links from here:

http://revision3.com/diggnation/2006-04-06/media

Posted by: bios Apr 15 2006, 03:58 PM

Video works for me, audio streams don't (http://www.di.fm/mp3/breaks.pls for example)
It opens caches and then nothing but it could be me, i should do a fresh install smile.gif, direct mp3 links a stated above do.

Would it be easy to create a XMBC is now playing extention (like in ajax).

Can someone point me in the right direction i'm likeing this websevers stuff and i'm going to look into it

Posted by: LiquidIce629 Apr 15 2006, 05:39 PM

Yeah XBMC's Playfile command does not understand what to do with the .pls playlist file you sent it. It will only detect audio files such as mp3, ogg, wav, etc.. I have not found a good way around it, ideally the httpapi could be updated to automatically detect what kind of media it is and play it, right now it only wants to see an audio or video file, not a playlist or shoutcast url.

I have already created an AJAX webpage for XBMC, search this forum for ajax and you'll find it. You could probably strip out the GetCurrentlyPlaying functions from my code and make a seperate little page for that if you wanted a now playing sidebar.

Posted by: iLLNESS Apr 15 2006, 06:14 PM

wow. this addon is handy as hell.

Posted by: CattyKid Apr 15 2006, 06:16 PM

This is VERY cool. You guys, again, deserve a nice pat on the back!

Posted by: focusedsoul Apr 15 2006, 06:23 PM

Just tried it, perfection biggrin.gif

Posted by: edwinmcdunlap Apr 15 2006, 06:25 PM

Wow, this is cool. It works great!
Really simple, too. biggrin.gif

Now someone should make a Windows Explorer extension like this, a "Play in XBMC" link or something that would go in the right-click context menu of a video file.

Posted by: skabio Apr 15 2006, 06:26 PM

I guess I'm an idiot but is this supposed to autoplay in xbmc? I sent the links to xbmc but nothing happened. I'm obviously missing something.

Posted by: skabio Apr 15 2006, 06:44 PM

nm working now

Posted by: ameba Apr 15 2006, 07:06 PM

it works great, all we need now is a way to save the movies.

Posted by: FouR86 Apr 15 2006, 07:08 PM

This is so sweet.

My girlfriends xbox is running XBMC. She is a different city, now when I want to show her a webclip, or audio file, I can load it for her automatically...

This thing only seem to work when it wants to, i cant seem to figure it out. I tested those links and they work ok but but i have a .strm file on my box with the link "http://www.ontoptv.com/asx/ontoptv.asx" and it plays fine in xbmc but if i copy that link and put in the extension it caches and then fails (no response). blink.gif

same problem here.

Posted by: 794 Apr 15 2006, 07:24 PM

I can't wait to test this out.

I just started trying out firefox again - much better than it was a year or so ago. I am repeatedly impressed with XBMC - there are almost always new features or aspects to the program being released.

Posted by: .:Dino:. Apr 15 2006, 07:48 PM

omg this is so cool, mad props on this. Only earlier i was playing with xbmc scripts when i thought, i wonder if theres a way to url link to xbmc. Now my dream has become true lol biggrin.gif Congrats

Any way we can get this fixed in time for the E3 press conferences on May 8th and 9th? I can always use URL paster, but that is such a hassle. The press conferences should be live feeds and will most likely be .asx files. Otherwise this is a KILLER app. Thanks again smile.gif

Oh and a tip for you first time conference streamers. I reccomend bumping up your internet cache to about 3-4 megs as these get a ton of traffic and tend to become choppy. You may get the news 1-2 mins after your friends, but it won't be choppy as hell. smile.gif

Posted by: malhussaini Apr 15 2006, 09:33 PM

I've been using URL-Paster Python script which does basically the same thing but not through firefox. It works like a charm. I'll have to try this out too, it would make my life easier!

For I.E. or opera users you can find URL-Paster here: http://www.xbmcscripts.com/modules/mod_docman/includes_frontend/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=18

So far, when I right click on any of the media files listed in this post, nothing happens on the PC or the xbox. I don't get the dialog asking whether or not I want to play the file. What gives? I'm running an older version of XBMC, but I think that it's the last official release. Do I need one of the newer builds? What else could cause this problem?

This looks very cool, just a shame I don't use XBMC much anymore!

Posted by: CoHPhasor Apr 15 2006, 11:11 PM

I installed this extension a little while ago, but am experiencing a problem.

I got the ext, installed it, and configured it for my XB IP. When clicking on the links you provided I could stream no problem, but I ran into another problem.

When going to a site such as IN FIREFOX not XBMC: http://www.milkandcookies.com/links/35959/

I get an error from firefox that I did not previously have;

"Illegal operation in Plug-in

Windows Media Player Dynamic Link Library
The Plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised to restart Firefox."

Now unless I check the "Do not show again this session" box it repeats. If I open the link in a new window instead of a tab it closes Firefox with no warning instead.

I have since uninstalled the XBMC plugin, but it still has the same error. Any ideas??

just two hours ago i was shoing a few virals to my family, and i had to save them, and copy them to my PC, and then broswe there though the XBOX

this would've been cool

anyway, installed it, loved it! cool.gif

something must be wrong with my setup. when i dragged it to my firefox window it attempted to install, but then said

any words of wisdom?

oh yeah, firefox version is 1.5.0.2

Doesn't youtube use Flash to encode their videos? Does XBMC support *.swf files?

This is great for mp3 and vid feeds!! Works!! But has anyone figued out how this could work for Gamespot movie feeds? smile.gif

Theres an excellent utilty for no ads for getting url links use for windows media player but hoping it could use for xbmc with http://gsad.webhop.net little Gamespot no ads neat little application.

I try to use xbmx gamespot scripts but videos not updated on regular basis and mot are missing, would be great if it worked with firefox extention.

I second this as well. I don't have all my folders set for share and sometimes there is a video somewhere else on the drive that i want to watch on the TV real quick. If i could just right click the file and send it over to the box real quick that would be pretty cool. Not necessary but just one of those little things that would make XBMC even cooler than it already is smile.gif.

Yes!! With the firefox extension for online elements and right-click context menu for the desktop, it would be pure bliss!

THis is totaly awsome!! Great job. BUt is there a way for you to rightclick a media file on your PC, and have the option to "Send to XBMC" and do the same thing?

Posted by: wizard4270 Apr 16 2006, 04:33 PM

Hi,

I haven't tested the plugin yet, but I was wondering if it will work with sites that require a login to access content?

Windows media player will always ask for my login before playing a video file which is hosted on a password protected site. Won't the Xbox also require the username/password before it can play the file?

If this isn't supported by the plugin, what are the chances of support in the future?

I think it's a great idea and will be very useful for me. I am off to install it now.

Thanks

Pretty darn cool...gives me a reason ut use the web control. (i.e. pc remote control)

It installs just fine on my current version of Firefox, and opens up just fine on my current version of XBMC.

From what I have seen, the website that hosts the password protected video will not allow a different computer to access the stream.

I have a login to the Revision3 site, so I can get the current videos. I have to log in to have access to those videos...so I log in, and send the video...it no workie.

But if I go to the older videos, the ones that you don't have to log in to get, they work just fine.

(log in video link looks something like this...

revision3.com/Protected/expiretime=[a number goes in here];badurl=[a string of characters goes in here]/diggnation/0041/

However the non-login videos are like this...
revision3.com/diggnation/0040/ )

And no XBMC right now will not play the youtube or google videos...however there are websites that will do the conversion quickly, and give you a link to download...that may work.

I was hopeing this would allow me to use ORB with XBMC...but either the streaming doesn't work...or I have the same password issue.

you need to send a DIRECT LINK (to a media file) not a folder like above pop.gif

Thanks for the plugin. Everything works just fine for me. I have one question though. Every now and then I watch p2p tv with live feeds of sport matches like (Barce - Real for example). I can watch these matches on my pc with windows media player 10. I tried copying the url in the properties of the live stream (in windows media player) an pasting it in firefox and send the url to my xbox. I get the same problem as other people trying to watsch streams: it caches and then fails (no response). If there would be a solution to this problem then I will not need to buy a graphics card with TV-out. So it would be very cool solution to my problem. Is there a solution?

When i send the link to the xbox i only get the opening pop-up... then nothing. i have tried a dozen links, i get the same result every time. Has anyone been able to fix this problem?

Now someone should make a Windows Explorer extension like this, a "Play in XBMC" link or something that would go in the right-click context menu of a video file.

was thinking the same thing when i saw the news
a 'play in xbmc' and 'enqueue in xbmc' right click shell extension like what winamp has would be cool

bit harder to accomplish, Ill explain why

Local PC Files: to make them available remotely you must share them.
Only way XBMC can play them is if you send the complete sharelink to XBMC eg: smb://192.168.1.4/My Shared Files/My Music/Pink Floyd/01 - Wish you were here.flac
Now, if you browse your remote share locally, this isnt a problem, but for other files it is, hope I make sense here ?

hey roccopagano to set that goahead password do the following

in xbmc
settings>network>servers> then setthe web servre password ^^

GReat idea now i can play useless videos of people getting hurt on my T.V for everyone to see pop.gif

Posted by: zhatka Apr 17 2006, 02:47 PM

HOW I PLAY VIDS WITH THIS:

A lot of videos that you see on websites are embedded, so when you send it over to XBMC, it just caches and does nothing.

Greasemonkey to the rescue.

I have http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/ installed, then I use the http://neugierig.org/software/greasemonkey/ script.

http://www.0s1s.com/beforeunembed.jpg:

http://www.0s1s.com/afterunembed.jpg

I have found that this works for most sites that have embeded video other than flash content.

Flash videos generally have a player and an external video file that is called, so this method won't work.

But, for sites like http://www.tooshocking.com, http://www.kontraband.com, etc...... this works like a charm.

Hi guys,

If anyone is having trouble getting this plug-in to work with XBMC, try checking your proxy settings in your browser. My browser was configured to use a proxy and this was preventing the URL's from being passed to my xbox. I just switched off the proxy and it worked.

Also, it sounds dumb but make sure your Xbox has internet access!! It took my half an hour before I realised I hadn't setup the gateway and dns rolleyes.gif

My PC has two network adaptors, one for the internet and one for the xbox. In windows XP just setup internet connection sharing on the adaptor which is plugged into the internet. The network card that the xbox is plugged into will be given an IP of 192.168.0.1

Go to XBMC control panel and set the IP of your xbox to 192.168.0.x (not 1!) then set up the gateway and dns with an IP of 192.168.0.1

This should give your xbox internet access by using your PC as a gateway.
Another option is to plug your Xbox into a router or hub if you have one.

Hope this helps someone.

wizard, thanks for your tips, i'm sure they will help someone who can't get this working.

zhatka, thanks for the greasemonkey links, this is almost exactly what I had in mind. I will see if it can be improved at all for better xbmc integration.

to the mac users, there is a dashboard widget that does the same thing as this.
Download the mac widget along with illustrated instructions on how to setup your xbox for remote control here:
http://homepage.mac.com/andy.herbert/XBMC_widget/

To everyone else, thanks for your kind words, I'm glad I could provide something that is useful to so many people.

It works pretty well. Make it do photos and it will be awesome.

Posted by: LiquidIce629 Apr 18 2006, 10:11 AM

For those of you who were having problems with loading certain tyes of URLS, can you please post an excerpt from your log files (xbmc.log in the /xbmc/ directory) which shows it trying to play that url?

I would like to help make xbmc's playfile command more robust and able to handle other file types as well as playlists. Thanks for your help.

Would it be easy to create a XMBC is now playing extention (like in ajax).

Can someone point me in the right direction i'm likeing this websevers stuff and i'm going to look into it

great station. di.fm pwns j00! lol..... i like the vocal trance channel and the eurodance channel.. though eurodance has went downhill...

oh yeah..... this extension is pretty cool.. i cant test it.. as the wireless bridge my xbox was connected to had to be moved when my access point kicked the dust...

oh yeah, firefox version is 1.5.0.2

I get the same thing, cannot install this extension at all. Firefox 1.5.0.2 here too, I'm guessing that's the problem as some extensions break on newer firefox versions. Eagerly awaiting Beta 2 with 1.5.0.2 support!
...or any workarounds more savvy firefox users might have for using this on the latest version.

Posted by: mrjkwik Apr 19 2006, 06:50 AM

actually mind wound up installing afterall. but i did have to download the xpi again. not sure if it got corrupted on the way down or not, but once i did that, and installed it again, it had no problem.

BUT...

still havent gotten the extension itself to work. still ironing that one out.

Using Firefox 1.5.0.2 English and all works fine.

This is great fun. Direct video links work like a charm. Like others though, I've had trouble playing ASX audio files (such as the ones http://mikesradioworld.com/oceania.html). I've a hunch this is something to do with the fact that ASXs are just a text file wrapper to a dynamic media url.

One solution is to open the ASX in Notepad, and copy/paste the URL. However, since I suspect that's too cumbersome to be be useful it would be great if you could somehow get playfile to read the URL inside the ASX.

That doesnt work, atleast not with my link.......thats what i said in my previous post. I tested a link in xbmc the normal way (.strm file) and it works fine, as it always does. Then i tried the link in the extension (copy and paste it from the strm file) and it doesnt work. And its a video link.

I think this an issue with xbmc cause the samething happened to me with "urlpaster".

This is what i see in the log........

This app would be perfect if you could just right click on a WMP stream and send it to XBMC! Can this be down?

I would like to hear some comments on ways to make little javascripts which could scrape links from the various video sites and display clickable links to play the content on the tv. Perhaps a greasemonkey script would also be useful to add 'send to xbox' links to all of the major video sites.

Streaming from within the LAN works perfectly, can someone give me some insite on how someone from an outside computer can send to my xbox. i have my real IP for my computer but dont know if i need to mess with port forwarding or if the xbox will have its own IP address (non 192.168.0.X that is). i read on page 3 some dood sends to his girlfriend's so that got me wondering. thanx

wustyle, you can just do some port forwarding on your router. Route port 8080 or whatever # you want to the xbox's IP port 80.

Next goto http://www.IPChicken.com to get your external ip address

Now from another computer on the internet you can use this extension, just put in the internet ip address you got into the extension options.

Be warned, sharing your xbox to the public internet is very insecure and opens up a possible flaw for somone to hack into your network. The safer way to do it would be to setup a VPN, or an OpenSSH server and use putty to connect and forward the ports you need. But that is beyond the scope of this post :-)

I believe this would be what your looking for.

I'm just not so sure how to play flv extension files in xbmc. I do imagine the latest release of xbmc does support it though. It was in the changelog anyway.

Hey,

It seems like a lot of people are having problems with caching and dying. Same with me. I send the link to XBMC and it starts to open the file, but it dies after caching it for about one second (one bar on the progress bar).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm running Firefox 1.5.0.3 with XBMC build 1.1.0 (T3CH compile from April 22, 2006).

And here's my XBMC log dump:

What do you think should XBMC with this Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIeIWkK0t4s ???
Open the Website, Cach the YouTube Player and start it?
It only works with ULR's to a mediafile!!!

http://blabla/song.mp3 <-- this would work
http://blabla/movie.wmv <-- this would work too

I think 90% of the people who have trouble with this doing something wrong.
Most the error is sitting in front of the Keyboard. wink.gif

However, since I suspect that's too cumbersome to be be useful it would be great if you could somehow get playfile to read the URL inside the ASX.

they took some time to load on XBMC, but the files on your link worked when i tried them

I can get this to work some of the time. But, most of the time, XBMC just gets as far as starting to cache the file and the it just stops. I am using the 6/18 Tech build. However, when the link is a mms file, XBMC doesn't respond at all. This may have something to do with the fact that site I am using is motogp.com and I have sign in to view videos. When I am signed in and grabbing a video link, the site puts extra data at the end of the link.

XBMC gets to point of caching with this type of link:
http://video.motogp.com/ppv_multimedia2/458/458566_13784.wmv

XBMC does not respond to this:
mms://wm.motogp-emea-secure.edgestreams.net/wm.motogp-emea-secure_!/ppv_multimedia2/458/458754_66390.wmv?auth=caEb9d.bHcrbxd1a8bscIbldobed9aodCde-beMT2c-c0-wAEysA&aifp=1234

Is this a XBMC issue or and issue with the extention? I would guess it would be with XBMC since, it seems to resolve the link and find the file.

Hi you all.

I've tried this kOOl extension and it does works fine either with .asx links (something seem it has been a trouble for somebody @ begin of this topic)

I went on this forum 'cause I tried to play the following link http://www.rin.it/player/rindigital.asx .

Well, now it sounds fine on my xbmc... but... how do I setup a call it "playlist/bookmarklist" to have it ready to play on my xbmc ?

Otherwise (at this moment) each time I want to listen to that radio I must turn on the pc, open its web site and send the link to xbmc... tricky, isn't it?

I'm sure there is a solution, but I'm not so strong with xbmc to solve it by myself so:

thank you in advance for any answer and or help.

Robert

Now someone should make a Windows Explorer extension like this, a "Play in XBMC" link or something that would go in the right-click context menu of a video file.

Can anyone please help me ? I cannot for the life of me get my xbmc to see or connect to the net. I am using Windows XP on both my pc & laptop. I have a tp-link switch which has my laptop, desktop & xbox plugged into it and then my adsl modem plugged into the switch as well. This means my laptop & desktop both directly connect to the net without ICS enabled. My LAN between all works fine, I can browse both computers from my xbox and browse my xbox from computers. My problem is that I can't get the firefox addon to work, on the xbox it cahes then just stops. Is the streaming video suppose to automaticaly play ? Do I have to be in My Videos section of xbmc ? Anyway the youtube.com script or any of the other scripts that come with xbmc 2.0 don't work either, as if it can't connect to the net. If my laptop & pc directly connect to the net (which means to the outside world they have 2 different IP addresses) then what default gateway & DNS addresses do I use in evox dashboard & xbmc network settings? Do I have to use the "Enable HTTP Proxy" in the xbmc network settings ? My adsl modem is quite a few years old, it is an Alcatel Speed Touch Home modem which requires you to physically connect to the net when you fire up the computer, maybe this has something to do with it also. Anyway I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, I have been at this for days trying to sort it out, I have read about other people saying how good this firefox "send to XBMC" addon is that I just have to know for myself. Obviously these people know exactly how to configure everything in order to use it. Anyway thank you to anyone who can shed some light on me. And also thanks to mnemonixz who has helped me a little to understand a little more.

Posted by: stevesmename Nov 19 2006, 06:16 PM

it would be super if this thing could ask for a username and password when in a protected area.

smile.gif

But for diggnation vids and etc its fantastic. I believe most people problems when using this extension in firefox is that you must right click on a link which is going to send you directly to the source of the video or music file. It's not going to read a webpage and find all the videos and music files that are on that page and then list which you would like to play in XBMC.

Not saying it's not possible to be developed to do that. biggrin.gif

a few ideas,

Great work!

Ok got it going with the latest FireFox update.Seen this post on another web site so thanks Brady
"Just change the xpi's extension to .zip, and extract install.rdf. Find "em:maxVersion" and change its value from 2.0 to 2.*. Put the file back in the zip, change it back to an xpi, and open it. Voila."

BUT where it says extract the install.rdf file(i dont know how to do that)so what I did was open the zip file(once you have renamed the xpi) with flashfxp, then edit the line with that.It seems to have worked.

Posted by: Woggle Dec 25 2006, 01:22 PM

Thanks for the help with extracting and renaming. I think that will probably work.

However, file originally named xbmcfox_beta1.xpi

Renamed to xbmcfox_beta1.zip

Extracted and changed file as per above

Renamed back to xbmcfox_beta1.xpi

However, Windows keeps it as xbmcfox_beta1.xpi.zip

There must be a setting somewhere that is causing this problem. Any ideas?

You will need to go to Folder Options/View and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types.

If i could just right click the file and send it over to the box real quick that would be pretty cool. Not necessary but just one of those little things that would make XBMC even cooler than it already is smile.gif .

Go http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/nightly and download the "nightly tester tools" extension.
You will get a new option at the bottom of the add-ons screen.
Then go to tools>add-ons and click the "make all compatible" button at the bottom and it will make FF believe all your extensions are compatible with the latest version.

Any time you update FF just go click that button.

All it takes to get it working is to unzip the files and edit one line in one file to get it working with newer versions of Firefox.

I did some more poking around and found a small bug with the send to xbox function. I fixed it and I can send stuff from almost any flash streaming site to my xbox! (Youtube, Dailymotion, Myspace, Bolt, etc)

All you have to do is use this site: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php to get the direct download urls

Is there any way I can get this to work with the newest version? I really want to use this extension but can't

Posted by: Roam Feb 14 2007, 01:38 AM

Here is a link to the updated version:

http://roamzero.com/xbmcfox.xpi

Also, remember that you can stream almost anything that can be made downloadable through this site:

http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

I haven't tested every site, but I do know with google vids you need to send the avi link (at least in my case anyway, I'm not using the latest version of xbmc)

Also, if you REALLY want to get a flash video playing but cant use that site for some reason, there is another firefox extension:

http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/

Install that and have it running when you open the video page and it starts playing. It'll log all outbound request and response headers. You might have to poke around a little but getting the download url is fairly simple once you know what you are looking for. I've used that to get peekvid stuff playing.

Okay so i got it to work by doing the little trick and changing it to a zip file

Posted by: Scammah Feb 14 2007, 02:08 AM

Hey Roam do you exactly what to look for to get this to work on pages using "live Http Headers"? I am trying to get it to work on adult swim.com which is all flash. Could you possibly go into more detail it would be a big help. Thanks

Posted by: Roam Feb 14 2007, 03:47 AM

You're trying to view adultswimfix.com stuff? When you use livehttpheaders you usually need to look for response headers that are "Content-Type: video/x-flv" or similar for the download request.

However, the best I can get working on adultswim is getting the sound to play. Video wont for some reason. This is probably a problem with xbmc.. (and i just upgraded to the latest)

Is there an updated version for FF 2.0 yet?

Posted by: dolphumous Mar 2 2007, 12:34 AM

I edited the install.rdf inside the xpi to include the newest version of FF...

Problem is...it doesn't work.

After setting my XBOX IP, I right click...click "Send to XBMC" and nothing happens.

This would be real handy to push videos to the TV.

Posted by: yzflash Mar 4 2007, 10:38 AM

Thanks dolph, for the idea to edit the install.rdf.

I did the same and it works fine for me!

Much better than creating crazy .strm files. (inside joke)

an update for firefox 2.0.0.2 would be great! wink.gif

Posted by: spaz7986 Mar 11 2007, 11:09 AM

I would personally suggest getting the newest version of foxytunes extension which gives you play, pause, stop, next track, and previous track buttons. It also gives you your currently playing info on mouseover of the single music note icon, a volume slider, and of course when you click the eject looking button it'll let you paste url's for media. It will also open up the webapi home page of your xbox if you click the show player button (up arrow). (you have to type in the ip of your xbox into the configuration before any of this will work along with enabling your web server in xbmc of course. To configure foxytunes correctly, click the music icon on the very left side, then player, then select xbox media center; then go to the players menu again and click configure Xbox media center and type in your xbox's ip... after you do it once you don't ever have to do it again and you can always directly control your xbmc from firefox.... very nifty)

I cant get this to play on my XBMC either, maybe because inm on 2.0.03 Firefox and the latest GasGiger XBMC. I have tried the tricks contained in this thread. I managed to see a file attempt to stream but it didnt play. Any ideas or indeed if there is an updated version that would be great.

I might not be so quick to update from now on..

Other people are having the same exact problem.
Any thoughts on solutions?

I also along with other have this problem, and can't work out why it doesn't work, have read all forums for help without luck, and have tried changing every combination setting for cache on XMBC without luck. Maybe its a particular version that has the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

i just use my xbox to browse and xbmc. as i do not have a pc. but i think it would be handy for others too.

What you do is go to the video on Stage6 that you want to play. Before the video starts you will see 2 icons on the player the "start button" and the "download" button. Right click the download button and click Send to XBMC and it should load and play right away on XBMC

After using the firefox extension i searched around hoping there was a script available for Stage6. Turns out there is. A really nice one called Joox. I recommend giving it a try.

http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/forum/showthread.php?p=137586

There is a couple links in there to it. The quality of the videos on Stage6 on the TV are awesome.

I found an easier way to send video URLs to the XBox using Firefox. Simply create a new bookmark in firefox with this URL: "http://192.168.1.6/xbmcCmds/xbmcHttp?command=PlayFile&parameter=%s"
set the keyword to something like 'x' or 'xbox' and then just type that keyword before the Video URL in Firefox.
i.e. "xbox www.somesite.com/video01.avi" and it will start streaming on the XBox.

thanks for the link. i have updated my xbmc fox extension. the only problem is, youtube doesnt work for me. the video freezes after a few seconds. could it be my t3ch build? im using the XBMC-SVN_2007-08-26_rev10100-T3CH build. may i know what xbmc build you are using? many thanks.

Posted by: WispyCougar Aug 31 2007, 01:43 PM

thanks for making this LiquidIce, i got it working but just have one problem with the videos. When I go to play videos, they start perfectly, but soon the frame rate starts dropping. About 20-30mins into the video, it just stops and goes back to the XBMC dashboard. sad.gif

I'm assuming that there's something wrong with my cache setting so can someone tell me the best settings for cache?

Thanks smile.gif

EDIT: If this helps, it also happens when im using JooX, except the frame rate doesn't drop, it just stops 20-30mins in.

i am using firefox 2.0

I am using the latest version of XBMC.

i also have multiple versions of this extension...

So far they all install, however nothing is happening. I am a fan of stage6 and the general known sites.

Could someone please explain to me exactly what it is that I am supposed to see on my TV.

Does it automatically come up? Do i have to open something on XBMC?

A step by step would be certainly helpful instead of almost every single post saying how great it is...

So please, some generous soul who is far more knowledgable then i, give a small little tutorial about exactly how and what is supposed to happen.

thanks!!!!

Appreciate any help.

If you added your xp ip in the xbmc fox settings, then the video should play instantly after you send a link.

I also use the version of the extension that supports youtube. But it also no longer works. This is a great extension, I tried to get it working again but youtube's recent changes are strange and I don't want to spend hours figuring out their new system. I found this site:

http://1024k.de/bookmarklets/video-bookmarklets.html

In firefox, this bookmark converts youtube and googlevideo videos to links to download video files. I tried using this but it gives links to pages that redirect to the videos, not directly to the videos themselves. Seems so close to working... If I just knew how to make the extension work with this bookmark. Using this bookmark as the middleman would make the extension low maintenance since the creators of the bookmark handle the link translation. Also is great since it handles googlevideo too.

Anyway, I look forward to any news regarding the youtube version of this extension. Thanks to the creators!
