What's New :

- Couple of significant bugfixes in the CUE sheet parsing/interpretation
Should correct a lot of problems people have been having with CD games.
Please try the CD games again that were not working.

OK - regarding sound playing crappy. As always, this is because of your PAL mode setting. Change your video mode from 50 to 60 and try again.

There is also a memory leak somewhere in the cleanup routines of HUGO emulation which can cause glitches (e.g. hard locks/freeze ups, etc) when you play a game. If a game freezes on you or seems to lock up or otherwise be screwy, try reloading the XBE and make it the first game you play. Chances are this will solve the problem. (Blazing Lazers and Ninja Spirits both work - I played each of them for about 5 minutes - no problems whatsoever.)

Yes, there are slow-sound problems in some games like Outrun. This is how HUGO behaves at the moment and I cannot do anything about it for now.

Regarding CUE sheets - someone posted their cue sheet in the hugo-v3 forum thread and all of the INDEX 1 lines had 00:00:00 in them. This is completely wrong! The INDEX 1 lines need to have *valid* numbers in them that you get when CloneCD creates the CUE sheet. If anyone locates another tool that gives the same CUE sheet output as CloneCD, please post the info in the most recent HUGO release thread.

just to let ya know Cadash stopped working after V2, and Legendary Axe 2 the screen flashes the graphics off and on. I know Bonk 1 never did work, but is there a slight possibility it can work? I'm not complaining or anything i just wanted to let you know about the bugs i ran into, this is really great your working on this again smile.gif i loved my TG16, thank you for your hardwork and time on this

Cadash does work in V3 and V4. It's one of the games that I continually tested. I'm guessing you did not read the documentation about "forcing bit-flipped/US-encoded mode." Basically you need to press the B button instead of the A button to launch the game.

Bonk 1 has always worked in every HUGO version I've released. You have a common, corrupt ROM. The reason why it "works" in Magic Engine is because Magic Engine patches the more common corrupt ROM files on the fly with the correct data.

The Legendary Axe 2 flickering is a known bug in the HUGO core. It does the exact same thing on the PC and linux versions. There's nothing much I can do about this at the moment.

THankx! Glad to set the example on HOW NOT to do things. smile.gif

Actually, if you try Legendary Axe 2 with what's his faces Turbo GFX emulator, it works just fine, all but the lack of colors, but then again perhaps he added something to the Hugo source to make it more compatable?!?!

I have noticed problems with just about any RPG type game I have played, seems that you get a random flash or glitch in the gfx (not enough to actually effect game play). Two titles that definatly do this are Y's and Nutopia or what ever that game was called. smile.gif

Oh, and Xport I forgot to say," Thank you SO VERY MUCH for working in Turbo CD support, I was happy as hell when I got Sega CD support at long last, and really did not expect my complete emulation dreams to be fulfilled and fulfilled so well so soon! I am on the fourth stage of Rondo Of Blood now, and loving it, if only I knew what the heck was going on in the story line, but I can't read Jap, and I don't understand German so I am kinda screwed. Anyone know the story?

Oh, I grabbed this CUE off the other post for V3, dude man was having troubles with MP3's being off there, so I figured your V4 would have fixed that issue and it did, so here is a start of working CUE's, name your files accordingly:

Not exactly. "What's his face" (as you refer to him as) has chose to port Xpce. These are two
TOTALLY different programs (Xpce and Hh-go). As much as I love Hu-Gox, you still owe respect to
Hikaru for ALL the great work he has done. Show some respect here, unless you can code an emu
yourself. Peace!!

I'm glad you mentioned this. I thought maybe I had a bad rom. Of the things I have tested, things
are MUCH better in relation to sound now. I too noticed the slower sound on "some" roms (ex. Keith Courage and Blazzing Lasers). I also remember Kato and Ken (JJ & Jeff in the us) freezing
up my Xbox. That no longer happens. Notices some graphical gliches in Ninja Spirit are now GONE!
Jackie Chan will not work. Sound is much better. Oh and besides that, the sound is MUCH better.
Devil's Crush still suffers from occasional flickering but is almost perfect otherwise. All in all I am
VERY pleased with this new version (referring to v3 at the moment). Although I haven't even tried
a cd as of yet. Like the new option to "force load" some us romz!! Thank you for your hard work
Xport!! I'm sure you have made a LOT of people happy.

OK. I've got Castlevania working, but I'm not getting sound. Used correct Cue sheet on here. MP3s are all named correctly. But no luck. :/

Do the MP3s have to be a certain rate or any compression?

FYI, I spent a few hours getting Ys book 1&2 working, and have finally gotten it. There appears to be a bug in the cue sheets that it does not allow spaces in the filenames. Here is the first few lines of a working Ys 1&2 cue:

CODE
FILE "ys12_01.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 1 AUDIO
INDEX 1 00:00:00
FILE "ys12_02.iso" BINARY
TRACK 2 MODE1/2352
INDEX 0 00:44:68
INDEX 1 00:47:71
FILE "ys12_03.mp3" BINARY
TRACK 3 AUDIO
INDEX 1 02:42:02
...

Originally the file lines read FILE "ys12 01.mp3" BINARY. I changed the space to an underscore, and it worked. If anyone wants the working cuesheet for Ys, let me know.

I beleive there is an issue with cd-audio (mp3, really) in Ys 1&2 on hugo-x v4.

When you get in-game, the mp3/cd audio continues to play when you're in the first town, when it should not be. If you leave town, it then switches to the appropriate "outside" music. However, when you come back into town, this music continues to play. Meanwhile, behind the mp3/cd audio, you can hear the normal synthisized audio track behind it.

Xport- let me know if you want any files from this to test this out. Here is the cue sheet:

http://falz.net/ys12.cue.txt

I tried this game from optical disc in Hugo pc, and it worked fine. I attempted to load it from ISO, but it appears to use a completely different format for the mp3s, so I was unable to get mp3/cd audio. I will look into this later.

Great emulator but Devil's Crush doesn't work on Hugo v3 and v4. sad.gif
It works well on Hugo V1 and v2, so? uhh.gif
Anyway, thanks for that release.
