Wow! I thought the Xenium sounded good but this seems a LOT better. Kinda blows it out of the water. Can't wait to see this thing in action! *Wonders to himeslf, if this chip beats Xenium will X3 beat SmartXX?*

you read it right Georgyo but its nothing special, I think it just means that it stops you from going on live when the modchip is on

Yea lets not start another, "Can I play on Live!" fest here. Cuz you CANT. I just means it will prevent you from signing onto Live! with the chip enabled. This chip does look good. I dont see any solderless install though. And no update on release date. I still may go with the XBIT.

If you go to some of the pre-order sites listed in one of these posts, you can see the release date in Germany, the home of the SmartXX. The sites I have been at say chip will arrive there on the 20th . Of Feb of course. And if you want to get the chip before any places in North America will likely have it, you should order form the German sites. From their support site they mentioned they will fill those orders first. SO if you can pay the expense on the shipping( 30 euros) for roughly a 45 Euro chip you will get it before all of your friends.

And the 'smartxx OS' is based on cromwell, and as such, the sources will be released under the GPL, no?

leisenstein, I think the german -> english translations got mixed up, and they mean webSERVER.

Is it just me, or do these seem kind of redundant? And I see no G drive support, so I assume that no lba48 support is implemented? What does this mean for those with large hard drives, using a 6th partition?

I think I'll get a xbit with built in flash programmer and no soldering seems safest and mxm is fine for me don't need a damn os.
