My birthday was yesterday and I would like to buy a Xbox 360 Elite SAMSUNG drive.

First off, is there any special code number on the box to verify weather its a SAMSUNG drive?

Is ELite available in stores? B/c I was looking at amazon and newegg and it's sold out on those sites... sleep.gif

i was looking around and came across this:

most of the drives are hitachi for 360 elite.... No Samsung anywhere... Can thHitachi drives be hacked? b/c I know for a fact the benq have no hope with hacking so far.

I think they stopped using samsungs in the console like half a year ago or so (not sure about this) but I think the only chance to get hold of a 360 with a samsung is to either find an old unsold one or buy someones used console.

if I did get the elite that does contain another drive other then the samsung.... is it possible to swap out that drive and put in a samsung drive? B/c I have seen 360 samsung drives being sol on ebay... will that work?

Just get one with a hitachi 78, it can be flashed just fine. Samsung is no more special really, I've had both, and the hitachi works just as good.

does hitachi also play xbox 1 single layer back ups? b/c I would like to play my xbobx games also on 360

Current hitachi FW doesn't support single layer discs afaik, but I have read recent posts from C4E stating its in the works or something like that.

If you buy an Elite that containts a hitachi78 drive then you could get a used samsung and flash it with 5.3 and "spoof" it being a hitachi78 and it should work just fine. Dont think samsung can be spoofed to look like a hitachi79 or BenQ though, so it wont work with all types of Elites.

If you aren't desperate to get HDMI output I suggest you simply go buy a used 360 with a samsung inside as its the least hassle.
