I usually log on few times to d/l demos and rosters, usually when you sign up for a silver they give you a free gold month free, I just tired to do it to d/l rosters for mlb but it didn't give me an option to go gold?? Its still at silver? can anyone confirm this

I'm pretty sure you only get the free gold trial once then you're done. But like the other poster was getting at, if you want the benefits of gold you're going to have to pay. It's well worth it! biggrin.gif .

Yeah you only get it for that one month. Then you have to get a new GT to download with. As the first poster said: Stop being cheap. $60 a year isn't that bad considering what you're getting.

i suppose if you dont mind changing your gamertag ever month you could just create a new one every month to get a free gold trial on it.

IIRC, you're limited to 5 free gold trial accounts.

if you only want to download rosters, why do you need gold in the first place?

Assuming that you buy your games, you should just get a 48 hour card from each game that you can use to download rosters. How many times do the rosters need to be downloaded? Is it not a one time thing?

i would think that you could just make a new hotmail account and use that as the email. then, go on xbox.com and go through the process of creating a new gamertag, then recover that gamertag over xbox live.

one issue you may have if you do this is that you may not have access to everything you downloaded on live with you main gamertag, let me explain.

i got my console and made a gamertag with silver membership. with that gamertag, lets call it (1), i got some arcade games. i later wanted to change my gamertag, but didn't want to pay the ten bucks, so i just made a new one, lets call it (2). i had access to all the arcade titles with (2). my dvd drive started acting up, so i sent it in to be repaired but kept my hard drive. microsoft sent me a new console, so i put in my hard drive. now if i try to play arcade games with (2) it only lets me play the demo version. to be able to play the full version of the games, i must sign in as (1) with another controller and then just play with (2).

anyway, i hope that helped. if i were you i would just try making new accounts through xbox.com

i thought it was 4 but ah well, this is true. you can make a few new accounts on your 360 and the first few you make will give you 1 month free gold. after those intial accounts you no longer get the free trial. and yes, as someone else said, 48 hr trials come in game boxes so, uh... yeah smile.gif
