i got board one weekend and decided to try putting one of my old xbox'es into a dvd player i had laying around . i had seen it been done so i thought id give it a try plus the dvd player case would suit the rest of my stuff like the hifi and sky box.I have done a few more bits since the pix were taken like hdd led, power led (which seems to go off after booting) and a fan fixed to the heatsink. it has a 160gb hdd with evox and m8 bios.

i need to work on the cooling as its far from ok @ 60'c on gpu and cpu after 30mins of gaming.

in some of the pix the M/B isnt fixed as i was lining up the mounting holes

any suggestions on how i could improve would be great

Looking slick so far. I would take a hole saw and cut a hole in the back of the case and put a fan in the back to push the hot air out and pull cold air in. That should help quite a bit. Lookin good.

just remembered the DVD drive fascia needs fitting but the drive its elf is about an inch inside so is there anyway of fitting some kind of extension that would be strong enough not to snap?

Looking good! good job on the dvd drive still working. Many case swaps drop the dvd drive because it would be hard to mount, but you went for it. right on

Thanks! thats the way i do things m8 go in head first and see what happens. may have found a solution for the dvd drive , i may be able to move it forwards and fix the fascia on the draw. am not scared of modding anything that needed.

Have thought of breaking down a controller and fitting some of the extra buttons to the d-pad and A & B to skip through movies, a bit pointless but why not.

Thnx for the interest smile.gif, its mounted upside down with the original case screws and standoff's made from a pen.
the power supply was mounted with the same sort of thing but i drilled 2 extra holes on the pcb. the back plate needs alot of work i might just get a piece of perspex and a neon tube.

Feels good to inspire some 1 to mod lol . the buttons arent to hard neither is the tsop , much easier with a softmod already done as i just went to file explorer in unleashx down to E/udata and run the default .xbe on the 007 mod (hope that makes sense) dont worry if when u run it first time without the dvd drive it will run a little jumpy on the flubber screen mine does every time and i cant fix it but after that everything works ok. as for the fan i have mounted a CPU fan directly onto the heat sink half over the cpu and half on the gpu but i have recently cut a hole on the back to pipe in some outside air as it was running too hot.

Will post this on your one too.
