You want to get the firmware from the board that was originally in the console. You do not need the firmware from the new board since that wont contain your drive key for your console.

Could anybody even use a board?... I have one from the drive I swapped out because it had a bad laser/motor... So i had to buy a new drive just for the part and paid 30 bucks only to just use the physical parts and not the circuit board... Could I resell that for anything?

ms25 and ms28 drive are the same except the firmware.

Since the firmware is located in the circuit board and since the circuit boards are interchangeable as long as the circuit board that contains your firmware and drive key is in the drive that is being used by your system it does not matter what drive components is being used.

Same way you can take a circuit board out of a Hitachi 79 drive and stick it into a Hitachi 47 and it works just fine.

He seems to be saying to me that he took his ms25 board and put it in his mates ms28
the ms28 as got the key so how can he say it plays games when the key is wrong
