First of all thanks for the help and I appologize if this has already been answered but I did a search and didnt see anything.

I just got into flashing my first 360 and have run into a problem. I'll give some background first;

I got the drive into mode B using the slax method, no problem

Drive was recognized in windows (drive H) and was flashed with the - Maximus-Garyopa Hitachi-LG Xtreme v2.3 Stealth 8in1 Revision2 firmware. No problems with the flash. I restarted the system and did the open tray for mode b procedure just to make sure everything was ok, which it seemed to be.

The next step was to use getss, using this command "getss h ss.bin". I put the disc in ( I used GoW and Rainbow Six Vegas) wait about 20 seconds, and run the command. It reads the initial line about the program and then will sit for about 60 seconds and display this error <SENSE KEY=00/ASC=00/ASCQ=00>. Same error with both discs, I also tried marvel universe to no avail.

Reading some more pointed me back to the 2.1 fw w/o stealth so i could use drive tools to pull the SS. However that resulted in an error prompt, which im not sure is supposed to come up or not, and it comes up with either spti or aspi selected. So I hit ignore and then everything seems to just lock up.

So I went on to another route and tried using dvdinfo to pull the SS, which I am guessing worked just fine, no real way to tell untill I burn a backup I suppose. But after I do the ss and I move on to grab the actual disc image, isobuster cannot read the drive, it sits there for a couple of minutes trying to get the TOC and then just comes up with a blank disc. And I did put in the custom command of FF 08 01 01. So now I am still unable to succesfully pull the ss.bin and the image off the original game.

My final attempt has been using wxripper hotswapping to pull the game image, but each game I try (GoW, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Marvel Universe) I get a hotswap disk to small error when trying to find the magic number. The movie disk I am using is Click, which is 7.95Gb. Only other thing I can think to try is to burn my own disk full of crap to use as swapper. So thats what I am currently in the process of.

If anyone can help me or at least point me in the direction of some good info that I've missed I would really appreciate it. Really help with any one of these problems would be great because I am just trying to get to the end result to matter which path I have to follow.

Thanks in advance!

are all steps of the flashing reporting OK?,

if so you should be able to extract your SS with Xboxcreator or dvdinfopro.

As far as the game partition direct with your 47dj, forget about it.

as far as wxripper, 7.95G is more than enough, I do it with 7.5G. Which drive are you using for wxripper (emergency hole or by removing the top)?

so here is some reading for you, plse take the time wink.gif to explorer the pinned section at the top of the forum ( Backup Faq - Everything* You Need To Know PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS! ) as many of your questions are covered there.

I will also direct you to the following sections.
You will find a very good overview document here

Also look at the newbie section for most of the questions we all have when we begin wink.gif.

moved to backup

Thanks for the advice, you've been incredibly helpful. Its nice to know now that certain procedures just dont work with the hitachi, like isobuster, that way I dont keep running around in circles with it.

All the steps of the flashing are going fine, I have been moving between 2.3 and 2.1 without any problems trying to get things to work.

One question that I have though, is after reading the info you gave me for wxripper, I found two different procedures to sue it. One I am assuming is the correct way and one the incorrect way. This is what I have been doing:

-Place DVD movie in dvd drive
-Start wxripper
-Making sure that drive is selected, stopping the disk
-Using the paperclip method to replace the dvd movie with the orignal game, which im pretty sure is working
because windows doesnt report any change in the disk.
-Start spinning the disk and hit "find magic number". Which at this point tells me my hotswap is too small.

My quesion is; Do i need to be hitting the "find magic number" button when the DVD movie is in, and then swapping and dumping the game? As Metaphaze's guide says to do. Or should i be swapping the disk and then finding the magic number on the game disk? Which is what the orignal wxripper thread and Geebee's guide say to do.

Thanks again for all the help!

I think your drive uncovered your plot to switch dvd on him .
Your swap with the emergency hole was detected and the dvd resynchronized on the x360 dvd, not good.
It is not all drive that allow you to use the emergency hole (pioneer are usually the best).

One way to know is that after the Spin Drive

In wxripper hit 'explore with wx360' :
-If the wx360 opens, close wx360 and 'Start Dump'
-If it does not open without an error, restart the process at the start because the swap did not work.

hope it helps,
soso
