Hi all,
I have an NTSC xbox here in the UK, and totally screwed up by connecting it to the mains with only an adaptor, and no stepdown converter.
So, I have a couple questions;
1) I also have a perfectly working PAL XBOX. Can I swap the PSU's? Is that possible?
2) If not, i'll have to buy a new PSU. So also, in terms of WATTS, what do I need to buy in my stepdown converter? (45, 100, etc)
Thanks for your help.

I've been reading some other similar threads, and I'm guessing from what i've read..I can use the other PSU from my PAL XBOX.
If someone could just clarify, and also;
-- I'm not really sure about EITHER of the XBOX versions. IF in fact I can use the PAL psu in the NTSC Xbox, does it matter with regards to version?
Thanks guys..I appreciate the help.

Hello again.
I've been doing some more research.....and someone gave me a great idea, I just don't know whether it will work.
As I said previously, I saw the idea of putting the PAL (UK) XBOX Power Supply in place of the fried NTSC one.....if this can be done (which i'm pretty sure it can now), would I then not need a converter, as i'd be using the UK PSU?
So then I could just hook up my regular UK Power Lead?
That'd be GREAT. Talk about saving me a LOT of hassle.
Thanks guys...

QUOTE(thedustycelt @ Jan 17 2005, 11:37 PM) You can swap the power supplies with no trouble. there are three versions of power supply. 1.0-1.1 1.2-1.4 1.6a-b The 1.2-1.6b all have the same conector, so be sure not to confuse the two. There is a great guide here on the scene that will help you identify your motherboard version. Great, thanks for the info my friend. What about this: would I then not need a converter, as i'd be using the UK PSU?

Note: My NTSC xbox is 1.0, my PAL xbox I THINK is 1.3.

Okay, sounds good. (I apologize for my stupidity, but;) 1) I can put my 1.3 PAL (220) supply in the NTSC XBOX, but I just have to make sure I follow the guide...right? 2) Can you confirm which guide that is, just so I don't screw up (again)... I really appreciate this man. If there's any way I can repay you.... (I have 3 XBOX Live codes i'm not using, lol)

(Can't edit, sorry for another post).....
I won't be able to use my 1.3 PAL PSU by the looks of it because I don't have the tools to convert it to 1.0 etc.
Shame. I guess my only options now are to get a new PSU and stepdown converter, or grab a different XBOX and sell this one. Trouble with that is, not many people in UK are going to want an NTSC Xbox minus the Power Supply, I guess. And it'd cost a lot to ship abroad.

QUOTE(ferrari_rulz_02 @ Jan 18 2005, 05:39 AM) you could allways sell the parts on ebay Well I was thinking about putting the whole thing on eBay, and obviously stating that the PSU is fried, but I wouldn't put it on the American site because I would lose 3/4 of the value considering shipping and that lot. And as I said, it wouldn't sell on the UK site. I could try I guess, but i'd be surprised. Plus i'm gonna lose some value.......I paid 110 for it, but I did get Halo.....I don't really wana sell it for less than 100 (with Halo, inc/ shipping also)..... I guess i'll see...

Hi,
I also plugged my 110v Xbox into a 220v socket without thinking. I bought a new power supply (switchable) and installed it but still no power at all.
Could there be anything else damaged apart from the power supply? Or could it be a faulty power supply? Also is there any way to test the power supply?
Thanks in advance Alch

QUOTE(ferrari_rulz_02 @ Feb 17 2005, 09:26 AM) use a multi meter and see if the 5v is giveing you 5v, 12v giving you 12v ect Thanks for the reply. I thought as much, was hoping there would be anothet way. I just recently moved from Japan to China and haven't received any of my shipment yet (which has all my tools etc). Guess i might just go and buy a cheap multi meter. Thanks again!
