I purchased and installed a 3 mode sleeper mod and it has no off, meaning it's always rapid fire. The led shuts off as it should but the mod doesn't. The 3 modes work fine. I am being told by the seller that it's how the coding is for newer boards. Mine is the old matrix not a newer cg so that doesn't hold. Any ideas?

I tried that and got the same result. Also by connecting there on a matrix it board keeps the led on, draining the battery

I got it from ebay from modzarmory. He has a youtube channel with mod "showcase" and instructions on how to install the mods. I'm getting frequent responses to questions I'm asking him but the replies are not helping. Each one is just asking if I jumped pin 1 to 4, is it wired updside down, etc. The first reponse I got said not to worry that I did it right and the newer code causes that to happen on the newer boards. My board is not new it's the old matrix type. I've explained that it's wired 100% correct and that all 3 modes work as they should. The rapid fire just simply won't turn off in the off setting, or at all. I've gone over the wiring multiple times to no avail. It works as it should as far as firing rates, just has no off.

Got some more detailed feedback from the guy as far as what to check but it's still not working. He says it's not likely but could be a coding issue so he's sending me a 6 mode sleeper to replace this one. We'll see how it goes. I do appreciate his quick replies and sending me out a different chip. Not much of that around anymore.

From the Ebay Store, quote:
*The 3 and 5 Shot burst modes will start off like normal rapid fire, and after about
10-15 seconds of use will convert to burst mode. This isn't always the case, but sometimes it does this.

Huh? This does not sound right at all in programming world.
"Sometimes it does this"
Does what, not do the burst right?

I hope your 6 mode mod "freebie" works out better.

Well, it would be pompous to say it was one of the opensource codes but if it is, I know why your mod is always on. One giveaway is that he includes the diode which was a requirement of my mod. The diode keeps the LED from being lit when the controller is off. Can really get past that on the matrix. The other requirement for a 'sleeper' matrix was that the triggers needed resistors. They were there to help protect the controller, although most people tend to ignore this. Another problem is that since the matrix requires the PIC to source the signal in sleeper mode, if the right resistor value is not there, it would cause the controller to rapidfire all the time. This only happen on a few controllers.

Edit: Scratch the pompous part. I know its my burnmeup2. It is the only one that uses pin 4 to determine controller type.

I thought the diode was to make the 4th player (or whatever led hooked up to the mod) led as bright as player 1. I know when I first wired it all I forgot the diode and the 4th led was really dim. It didn't stay on when the controller off either. I've added the proper resistors to the triggers per a discussion on these boards.

"Another problem is that since the matrix requires the PIC to source the signal in sleeper mode, if the right resistor value is not there, it would cause the controller to rapidfire all the time."

Not sure what that means.

Any ideas on how to get it to shut off in "OFF"

sounds like a coding prob ,
he might be just removing modes from his 6 mode to make a 3 mode .

Seems to me to be a coding problem also. I know nothing about coding but I know it's all wired correctly, so to me that just leaves the chip itself. I think the 6 mode is a new one for him and the 3 mode has been around for a bit. Not sure modding a controller is worth this trouble. I don't really need it for anything just thought it might be fun to have. One of those do it because you can things.
