My son wants Xbox live. But we only have the older original Xbox. Is the original Xbox still popular, or can it even be used on the Xbox Live service?

Xbox Live support has been discontinued for the original Xbox.

Yeah, thanks I read a post here with the MS statement for April 15 which has passed. Just curious, do you feel that it was popular up to that point? Did MS pull the plug too soon? Or was there really no interest?

eh the only interesting thing I would consider is H2, you should really consider buying a xbox 360 its worth it.

that thing is a bunch of shit and plus you have to put your computer in the dmz zone on the router giving hackers an open route to your computer, mine was almost fucked up in the process. be carefull who you give advice too

You don't have to put your PC into a DMZ. You have to be able to set up port forwarding on your router, and possibly adjust the firewall rules on your router and your PC, but that's about it.

Also, the fact that lots of people use it successfully would tend to contradict your assertion about how well it performs.

It's far more likely that you didn't set it up properly.

+1, I suck at port forwarding yet I managed to get it work the right way.

That ended up being a real headache for microsoft because one group rotated shifts and stayed in the halo 2 lobby for about three or four months preventing MS from being able to shut them down and effectively keeping it open.

i dont think it was a headache for them, they could have just booted them out, or shut it down with them still in the lobby if they wanted, and either way it was just a few people so most of the load was still taken off the service which is what MS wanted in the first place
