The reason I ask is, is because I don't want to get caught downloading music. If all it's doing is recording the stream, then that's great - but when I recorded a short segment from a talk show station, and when I listened to it back - all I got was the music in the background.

So in short; is XBMC recording the stream or downloading it?

In order to play a stream, data must be downloaded (this is true regardless of what program you're using). Recording a stream merely causes XBMC to save a copy of that data instead of discarding it when playback is complete.

Long story short, if you view any media over the internet, you've already downloaded it.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that part. All I want to know is, is it traceable to "record" the audio or not?
