I have searched for newer info on DD-WRT and Xbox Kaid and have not found much explaining how it works.

If someone has a newer tutorial they can point me to, I would appreciate it. Everything I have found is pretty old. I know Kai is pretty straight forward. I am really looking to for the answer to one specific question.

With DD-WRT and Xbox Kaid enabled, do I need to run the client on my PC?

I have the DashLaunch and Ping Patch installed on my box.
