Hi i recenlty bought a 500 gb hdd. Went to format it using xboxhdm 1.9. Backed up my eeprom, and followed all other directions. Burnt the disk ran it, formated hdd, installed it. I get and error 06 and i know that means hdd won't unlock for the xbox. So i check my eeprom i used (which i backed up in evox) and it says invalid xbe and video region in liveinfo. I decided to plug in my old hdd and run configmajic. It says my serial in my eeprom is a bunch of zero's along with a couple of other values being that. I know that's messed up and i don't know what the hell is going on. Obviously my eeprom is all messed up so how do i fix it? Can i just borrow a friends eeprom off their xbox burn another xboxhdm disk, reformat hdd and it'll all be okay? If someone could explain in depth how to fix this it would be much appreciated because i really want to fix this. No a chip isn't an option so don't bother with telling me that. Help is much appreciated.

Try backing up the eeprom with the evox back up command. If that one doesn't lock the HD to your Xbox, you may be in trouble.
You can't use any other eeprom.bin file to lock the HD to your Xbox. They are all unique. |

Hi,
I assume you softmodded your original harddisk before you started with the 500 gig one. Some softmods like the Ndure create a shadow eeprom. Some applications read that shadow instead of the real xbox eeprom. So, you might start by giving a bit more usefull information. - What type is your xbox? - Did you use configmagic in a way that it might have messed up your eeprom contents? Since your original harddisk is still booting, I don't think there is something wrong with your xbox eeprom contents. That disk wouldn't boot either if your eeprom contents are corrupt. Unlock the 500 gig harddisk before you start further experimenting. When the xbox gives you a error 5 with it, the disk is unlocked. Make sure you have the configmagic 3 program if you have a 1.6 or 1.6b xbox. regards. |

All i did with that program is read the eeprom which obviously isn't a correct eeprom. I was thinking that if my eeprom is screwed up then the original hdd wouldn't boot so thanx for clearing that up becasue i was going to post that. I got the eeprom from backing it up in the evox dash and taking it off of the backup folder on the E partition. It obviously wasn't the right one. So can anyone tell me how to get my real eeprom since you think it's a shadow. I know some xbox stuff but this is the first time doing stuff with the hdd or eeprom so i apreciate your help. |

Here's how i fixed it: I went into AID and backed up the eeprom there. Took it and burned it to disk. Locked the hdd and all was good and now i'm really happy, thanx for the help guy's appreciate it. I also figured out that the krazies ndure installer shadows your c drive and eeprom when installing it through AID. I think i might write a guide for all the other people who might have problems with this. |
