I think there is a limit in space you can use for USB devices. USB sticks smaller than 4GB sometimes work. Devices that are bigger are not compatible with the xbox.

If your device is compatible with the xbox, the M$dash will automatically format it to fatx the first time it sees the disk. The disk will appear as a big external gamesave device.

Another option is using the Xbmc dashboard. That dashboard can access FAT formatted devices.

regards.

I know xbmc recognises FAT formatted devices. Not sure about FAT32.

What are you exactly trying to do? Are you attempting to prepare a harddisk for use in a xbox, or are just trying to connect an usb disk to your xbox?

regards.

xbmc will read FAT32, although im not sure if it will read a partition larger than 4gb (some with the xdk libs prevents it from addressing more than 4gb via USB)

there's no way to run games off of a usb hard drive. I use a memory stick to transfer small files when a network isn't available

Get the latest DVD2Xbox to rip Halo 2 to the HD. It will do it with no problems.
