Hello, Happy New Year to all

I have a rather "newbie question" of using the "search" button on the top right, right beside the "help" button. When I use it I always get taken to an "ERROR" page:

Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:
Search these forums using the custom google search engine below!" grr.gif


Why is this? If I am doing something wrong please tell me as this drives me nuts and makes me not want to use the search button. Most other sites have a "search" button that actually works without taking you to a stupid page telling to look through help files........ hahahaha Please help.
