Hello, I am an extreme newbie when it comes to modding my box. I have already installed the xenium spice chip to my v1.6. I also tried to ftp it.

I know absolutely nothing about what I am doing. But the chip is in successfully!

I have all these files that I tried to ftp into the X Drive that I want to delete. It won't let me remove them (saying I don't have access).

All I want to do is add the dashboard.

Does anyone have experience adding a dashboard to spice chips? or with ftping?

Thank you,
Vinny

Get on xbins and download Slayer's Auto Installer. I think it's in .iso format. Burn it onto a CD-RW using DVDDecrypter.

If you put this into your xbox, it will enable FTP. You can choose to install evox as a dashboard from the menu as well.

in the event you have.. you need a dash.. If you are a newb jsut get a slayers evox iso burn that shit on a dvd and stick it in, format hd, full rebuild, upgraded hd, insatll evox to c apps to f

Thank you for the suggestions. I was trying to put avalaunch on. I got all the iso tools but I realized i'm an idiot and I need someone to hold my hand through the process. I will look into the other dashboard for now. Hopefully I can get something working.

All I have done so far is install the spice chip and launch the retail kernel bios. Does that sound right? Yeah, and I've also been screwing around with the ftp drives... oops

thanks,
vinny

You need to flash a new bios onto the chip. Get one from xbins. Read about which one you need before you do.

Yeah, I have a 1.6. I was looking for the m8+. I hear that is also the one to use if I am planning on using more than 137gb of my 200gb HDD. Is this true?

I will look for the download and I guess burn it to a disk and flash it in.

Thanks for the tips. I will keep you posted on my progress as I am sure I'll need more assistance.

Thanks again,
Vinny

Sweet, I flashed the bios successfully.

When I launch it from the xenium menu, it shows an evox logo in the upper left corner.

Now, if I want to add the avalaunch dashboard - what steps should I take?

I downloaded a Qwix tool for ISO creation. Just not exactly sure what the hell I am doing. I made an ISO file with all the avalaunch folders inside. When I try to launch, I get a message "file doesn't fit".

Again, I am an idiot when it comes to this. I am surprised I have gotten this far.

Thanks,
Vinny

I'm a Newb too and believe these guys when they say get Slayer's 2.6! For a newb like myself it is so easy to use, once you get it installed, FTP to your box and see how it is setup after Slayers. That should give you an idea of how things should be configured for your box.

Avalaunch comes with Slayers (along with other goodies) and has a cool update feature, it is what I run for a Dash currently. smile.gif

Thanks for your help. I was able to install EvolutionX, v.3935 I think. It is working ok. So far the only thing that I Have done is add fce emulator for NES and snes9x emulator.

The emulators are both installed and I am able to load ROMS for fce.

I can not figure out how (or where) to add roms for snes9x. Does anyone have this emulator, or should I post something in the emulator forum?

Thanks again.

you dont even need to burn a cd to get a dash on you can just ftp it into you c folder. but you have to set up network in the xenium menu to do it.

just thought id mention that its less time consuming that means more time for gaming biggrin.gif
