Just recently i have started to get error 5 randomly as i turn on my xbox. Sometimes it will boot up to evolution x, but most of the time it will boot up to an error 5 screen. Would locking my upgraded hdd fix this, will i still be able to play backed up games etc?

THats weird try booting a slayers evox cd and reflash the bios with a newer version . With a modchip it should not make a difference if your HD is locked or not . And reinstall evox with the cd too .

i just flashed it with the 4983 bios but, when i reboot it will still give me an error 5. Then i just let it sit turned off for about 5 minutes, and then power it up it gives me the evox dash. It was doing this even with the older bios. I am going to lock my hdd now and see if this will fix this problem.

13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.
Ok dude you need to reformat that drive and unlock it and use the slayers disc to install a fresh dash on c . Sounds like something got corrupted on your c drive and will randomly access it . So try format and reinstall , if that doesn't work then you HD might be dying . |

haha i finnally decided to open up the xbox and check out what was happening on the inside. So i looked at the dO and it was barely attatched. I dont think it was attacked it was just resting there, but what kept it in place was a little bit of silicone.
So i resolderd it and everything works like new. Haven't had a problem since Thanks every one for your help. |

yeah i knew it was probly some thing really simple like that or something really terrible like my hdd dieing.
A quick question though ever since i resolderd the dO i haven't been able to connect to anything such as xlink, ftp, xbox live. I think it maybe something wrong with the ethernet port in the back. I still get activity lights it just doesn't see it, i dunno. I haven't changed anything on my settings, it doesn't work. I put my hdd in my friends modded xbox, and i was able to connect on to it via ftp. But then when i tried my friends hdd in my xbox his was not able to connect nor would mine. Any input would be appreciated. |
