Nme Install Help, Hitachi 47dj + NME(?) 1.1 Options

I just got in my NME 1.1 for hitachi drives in.

Tried to install and get an E64 error every time. i've checked and rechecked and rechecked my wires and they seem to be ok. I installed the capacitor as shown, pin 1 to 6. Pins 1, 2, 3 of the chip go to (from left to right with trayfacing you) pin 4, 7, 6 (respectively) of the SST chip. Pin 5 goes to the + and pin 6 goes to the test point as shown in the install diagrams.


If i take off the chip (first time i took of the wires, 2nd time I desoldered the wires from the chip), the xbox appears to boot fine. i get no error but I only let it boot to dashboard as my HDD isnt hooked up and its in pieces.


Anyone got some insight? If not, god I guess i'll just try to RMA the chips and get a USB/SATA (since i have no sata ports) and flash it :-/ .

I was having the same issue last night. I got frustracted and scared so i desoldered the chip completely and will start again this afternoon. I think a wire overlapping could be the problem in my case but I am unsure. My wires were [retty big because i mounted the chip in the front of the drivein that plastic cut away area. Whered you mount yours? The instructions on Team-Underdog show the capacitor soldered from pin 1 to the other capacitor or resistor but the instructions say pin 6, i soldered by the picture so I think that was my issue. Or I was right and that could be your problem. Hopefully we both find out. Almost forgot, my drive is 59dj not 47 but still very similar situation.

i mounted mine in the same spot, it looks like a perfect area. Do you think wire length could be the problem? I had thought of that, trying to shorten 'em a bit. But I haven't tried.

Lemme know if / how you fix yours.

What the.......I got the exact same problem.

I´ve checked the cables 3000 times and there´s nothing wrong.... If I desolder the chip (cabel 1,2,3) then it works fine.

I´ve tested 2 chips and it´s the same problem with both chips.

I've the same problem with the NME 360 installed in my Hitachi 47DJ drive. I've returned my chip. I'm very curious to know if anyone has stopped the 47DJ drive E64 error.

I have exactly the same problem on a firmware 47DJ drive. Anyone find a solution?

my problem was a dud chip. when i removed the chip and used another chip i had purchased for a friend it worked perfectly (had to do laser tweak also)

My problem was a good burner to make the backup.

If you are getting E64 or E66, then your solder job is suspect since if you installed it OK, but didn't make the backup properly, you'll get "to play this disc, please insert it into and Xbox 360. " It could also be a dud chip. Point is something went wrong with the install.

I was getting the E64 message first, redid a few wires, and then got the "to play this disc, please insert it into and Xbox 360. " message. After I got the burner on foundmy.com, I was good to go.

I've rechecked all wiring and soldering with a multimeter and all looks fine. Got my chip from myfoundry, but have found a couple of differences to the picture for an Hitachi.

1. No white mark on chip, but there was on the antistatic bag.
2. Capacitor was already soldered to pins 1 and 6
3. Two pins on the top of the chip are soldered together

Does everyone else have the same?

Myfoundry asked for pics of the install. I sent those two days ago. Will report back on their service when I hear back.

Well, after some chasing Foundmy did reply only to say give them 2 days to sort things out. 3 days later I chased again, but no reply. Have chased a few more times, but still no reply

Hmm that worries me as that's where I ordered all of my hardware from. I ordered the NME 1.2, case opening kit, and the green fans.

Hopefully I don't have these issues after installing the 1.2 chip.

Please clarify which version of the chip you're using? Are these all 1.2's in this thread?
